If you exclude QBs, he's tied at 10th for RBs only.  5 of the 9 players above LM have less carries.  He's also tied with 9 other RBs in Rushing Fumbles (4 of which have less carries).

    I say CUT THEM ALL!!!!!

These are the ESPN stats for Rushing Fumbles.  They are acurate and up to date.

And I will post this again. Kevin Faulk had 15 fumbles in his first 4 years. Maroney has 5.

He has four fumbles, one was after a reception in NO so maybe that's why they didn't put it on the rushing list.

All 4 were turnovers although in the NO game the saint that got the ball then fumbled it and NE recovered the ball.

Finally, someone who can read.  ESPN's catagory is Rushing Fumbles so it doesn't count Maroney's (or any other RB's) recieving fumbles - and most have at least 1.

If you count total fumbles there are 22 RBs that have 3 or more fumbles this year - Maroney included.

Smart to sit him down vs the Jags but expect Laurence Maroney to get plenty of carries vs Houston and into the playoffs.

All QB fumbles off sacks should be excluded from the list as it is tainted to treat them the same as running backs

Agreed with the poster who noted that QBs should be off the list.

Moreover, ignore the number of ties and Maroney has a stake in the 5th highest fumbling total among RBs in the NFL.

I bet he's #1 in goal Line Fumbles.  I love the apologists and their Magic Football Theory.  "Since it dropped straight down onto the line it should of been a TD".

How about, if it didn't drop at all it would of been a TD.

No stat for goal line fumbles - unless you want to compile one yourself.

There are 22 RBs with 3 or more fumbles.  LM used to be much better at holding on to the ball than this year but he still is in line with most of the league.

K-Max will cry like a baby when Maroney is the starting RB for Houston and in the playoffs.  He will cry again when LM goes in for another TD.

Why would I cry?  I would be the first person To call myself an @ssH0le if he magically became the best RB in the league.  I don't wish failure on anyone on my team.  After 4 years he is what he is, the 24th ranked RB in the league.

I'm not going to eat a $h!t sandwich just because it's labeled Roast Beef.  He is not good enough to be the everyday back on a championship team.

We cant have great players at every position, Fred Taylor will help in playoffs.

Minus the QBs who arent getting paid to run with the ball, and it looks pretty bad for our boy fumbleroney.

    Maroney 3.9 YPC  4 fumblerooskies
    Taylor    4.2 YPC  0 fum
    Morris    4.7 YPC  2 fum

I just try to look at it like this, Maroney is the best third string running back in the NFL right now.

Maroney is 22nd in attempts which means if he was average than he would be 22nd in yards and fumbles.  He is 26th in yards and 10th(most) in fumbles for running backs.  That means he has less yards and more fumbles than an average running back.  It is what it is, he's a below average RB.

How many of those fumbles are in the red zone? Three?

Oh wait.....all those people who wasted money on Maroney jersey's will probably pipe up and say it wasn't his fault....or maybe the ball was slick that day....sun got into his eyes......

Freddy T and Morris all the way.

Re: Maroney tied for 18th in league in rushing fumbles.

I am not big on LM and I believe we should draft an RB next year (but only after we draft three front 7 guys).

Yet, I have to point out that per bobo's data, he's doing 250 yards/fumble.

Better than: Peterson, Forte, Wells and McFadden
As good as: Gore, Bradshaw and Wiliams

He's not as bad as his detractors make him to be.

If I remember correctly, his 2 goal line fumbles happened while he was fighting to croos the goal line. I'd rather have the problem than the problem of not fighting hard for his extra yards. Taking care of the ball can be addressed. It will come as he matures. Doesn't anyone remember the RBs (I can't remember if it was KF or AS or both) of our beloved Pats SB teams had critical fumbles of their own?

Just be happy that you have FT, KF and SM to take the load if he does not fix the problem in time for the playoffs.
