I smell a 2nd and a 3rd to SD for Vincent Jackson, leaving the Pats with 2 #1's, 2nd, and 3rd pick and getting younger at WR.

Re: Moss has been traded for a 3rd round pick

    Again, Why now?

This makes no sense unless the Krafts wanted him gone, NOW.  If that is the reason, fine.  It's their team and they usually put them in a place where they can succeed.

But there is just no other way to justisfy it.

In the championship seasons their offensive philosophy was: Play great defense, and the offense will be fine.

Now, things have switched and the best way to help the young defense is to have a powerful offense.  It will give the defense the space they need to grow and it will also reduce their playing time, and importantly injuries.

Trading Moss just put more pressure on a clearly overwhelmed defense.

Vincent Jackson isnt walking threw that door. This is the end of the trade mark my words. The Pats will go with Eldleman, Welker, Tate, Price and basically use Hernadez as a reciever. And to those that say why didnt they wait until after they played the Vikings. They couldnt the trade dead line in the NFL is week 6.

Re: Moss has been traded for a 3rd round pick

Best we could have got for him is a 5th round pick if he played out contract.

Moss would have needed big stats to maximize his value in free agency and probably wouldn't have them this season as Brady spreads the ball around.

This means that Moss would definitely become a major distraction at somepoint...wasn't this evident at his opening salvo after game one?

BB can see the writing on the wall...if Moss could have played out this season hard, with limited stats and see what happens at the end of the season without becoming a problem....then he would still be here.

Re: Moss has been traded for a 3rd round pick

The hell with a 3rd round pick.  How bout somebody that can actually help the 2010 New England Patriots???  Gerhart?  A D-lineman or perhaps a LB?

The Pats basically got fleeced, and the most sickening thing about it is that they were willing to let this happen.  They had no reservations about it.  If they don't have another move lined-up to improve their roster, they're basically admitting that this season is a lost cause while they're 3-1 and coming off a huge confidence boosting division road win.

We at least had some hope before, now that hope is gone.  GONE, I tell ya!  They could have signed Moss, still been competitive and developed the young talent.  Now we can forget about the competitive part.  Brady must be pissed!  The hopes of another superbowl while a Patriot is now gone.

Hello double team on Wes Welker with no deep threat.

Re: Moss has been traded for a 3rd round pick

They are going with youth...the vikes probably don't have a LB or DL better than we have for BB.....he's better off the options available with the picks..as trade bait or to pick the right player next year.

No super bowl this year, get over it...they'll be competitive while they put together a team that can make a run over the next several years.

BB didn't get fleeced he made a decision that will make the team better in the long run...if he thought  this was a super bowl team he would have put up with Moss.

Wow you are being generous. You think other teams will only double Welker lol. My bet is they have everyone cover him then just laugh when they try to throw it to someone else.

You guys are crazy. the Pats can use that 3rd round pick to select the next Shawn Crable, or Tyrone McKenzie!!

Why did they not try to get some help on defense?  I do not believe after the win on Monday that they have written off the season.  Something happened with Moss that has not been revealed.  This dump of a player at this juncture signals something big following in the next ten days.   Maybe it is Vincent Jackson.

only thing to take from this, is the hope they are working out something with SD for Jackson.  That would be nice.

Re: Moss has been traded for a 3rd round pick

This will go down as one of the worst moves in Pats' history.  Randy has a few productive years left, and Brady can't be happy with this move.  From his perspective, this is Deion Branch all over again.  The other guys in the offense had success on Monday in part because Miami was doubling Moss.  Who's going to stretch the field now?  Who's going to open up the short middle so Brady can hit Welker 10 times a game?  Who's going to keep those safeties honest so they can get the running game going?

Beyond all that, getting a 3rd round pick for one of the best receivers in the game is absolutely atrocious.  The Jets gave up a 2nd round pick to get Cromartie, a CB (and not even one of the best)!!!  Yes, they overpaid, but still.  I would gladly trade a third round pick for Moss' production for just the rest of this year.

I am completely and utterly disgusted with this move.  The Patriots traded away one of their best players, a player who'd done little except produce catches, yards, and touchdowns in his tenure here, because he rocked the boat a little.  So what if it was his last year in New England?  Keep him around because he's a key to your offense, even when he's doesn't produce on any given Sunday.  A measly 3rd round pick is not worth even close to Moss' production and impact on this team for 12 games.
