"not high , just asking a question .  The black guy they  kept at receiver might get less snaps than the white guy they just signed.  Its just different  than most other teams at those positions .  Iwas just wondering if any other team could come close.  Not that it matters since I agree that we're  talking about good players."

You aren't just asking a question though.  You've already posted that you think that the Pats had a problem with black players and were intentionally causing them to fail so your questions are a lot more loaded than you claim.  In addition you phrased them in a way that suggest you see them as evidence of some racial bias within the organization.  I think that is absurd and don't think you can rationally come to that conclusion based on the available evidence (hence my snarky questions about intoxication).  NFL players are predominantly black at a lot of positions.  Just because the Pats have a few REALLY GOOD white guys at some of those positions is not evidence of anything imo.  Particularly when you consider that in the past they had lots of non-white players at the positions in question with the same coach and owner.  To me that indicates performance and not race is what gets you playing time in New England.

They scored the 11th most points in 2011.

Their passing offense was terrible.  In a season where 3 QB's threw for over 5000 yards their QB threw for barely over 3000.  He had ZERO 300+ yard games.  Their leading receiver had less than 900 yards and their number 2 WR caught 20 balls for 231 yards.  The fact that they think the most athletically gifted receiver in NFL history might be able to top that does not mean that he is going to set the league on fire.

    [/QUOTE]

And they were 13-3 with one of the best give away take away numbers in a long time. 4 INT's for the game manager Alex Smith.

Moss, and Manningham with a stable of RB's will help this offense. Although they don't need much help....

You have given the resident troll what he desires. You cannot win an argument against somebody who doesn't use rationale as a basis for his statements. You don't think he can come to his conclusion rationally because he didn't.

I realize that comment was not in response to the OP, but again, his agenda has been met. And I wouldn't be surprised if Coolade was Babe. Only somebody like that would make absurd statements that basically accuse the organization of being racist.

It's seriously comical that race is even being talked about in this case....it has ZERO to do with anything revolving around Mr Moss. Isn't it blantantly obvious that he was a problem child being that he saw 3 different teams in ONE SEASON? C'mon....that's as clear as it gets right there.

I loved Moss. Loved watching him play....truly one of the most gifted athletes to ever play the game. I would think he's a first vote HOFer. But when you open your mouth, and bring negativity to the team, it's time to go. Hated to see him go, but it was time.

If the passing game ends up being bad in SF, It won't be long before Randy opens his mouth again....just the way he's built. Sure hope his mouth doesn't effect any HOF status in the future. I'd like to see the guy go out with a little class, but not sure he's capable anymore. Kind of like Lebron...all that talent, and act like a d o u c h e!!

The key statement was..." Not that it matters, ...  ".  if this team has the whitest group of skill players in the league then it's a fact and deal with it.   I was hoping there were other teams posters would point out ...

I agree the thread branched off from the op.  Moss was a great member of this team.  If they closed the deal in 2008 he would be treated better imo.

Not taking sides on this, and incidentally I don't agree with the racism charge, BUT I think Babe was referring to racism on this board rather than from the team.

It came down to O'Brien or moss.  You can't keep a player over a coach . Black or white. Moss should have kept his bigmouth shut like a Welker . Welkers still here and he couldn't catch the ball over his head in the super bowl.  Plus we had underwoods and skaters replacing moss.  Its not a stretch to say that obies conflict with moss cost this team the SB .

You practically prove racism had nothing to do with it here. If Bill was such a racist why is he playing hardball with the white reciever (Welker). If Moss had behaved, and produced he would have gotten a fair contract. I suspect if Welker sulks and causes problem's early on this year he too will be gone. Belichek gave Moss a second chance when no one else would. I loved Moss while he was in New England but he has produced nothing since he left while the Pats have actually improved. I hope Moss has a good year but the Patriots are better with 4 good recievers (Gronkowski, Hernandez, Welker, Lloyd) than they were with just Moss and Welker and a bunch of jag's.

So O'Brien has been putting himself on the spotlight.  Last season nationwide coverge goes at it with Brady.

I've always thought they traded Moss to enhance his prospects to play more somewhere else and secure the long term contract they weren't keen on giving him.

He can still play but I still don't regret BB making the trade. If BB thought that it was better for the team then I'm with the Coach and GM who has the best record of any team in any sport over the past 10 seasons.

    Re: Moss starting for 9ers.

Oh I liked Randy as a Pat quite a lot. He did lose his touch either by design, age, or apathy in his last season with us. I remember TB looking for him a litle too much, and sometimes (too many times) forcing a throw to Randy that ended up a miss. It was time for him to leave Pats. Too much drama.
Randy is highly entertaining and an incrediable talent when he's on. I think this fit with SF is a good one. It will be interesting to see if his time out year helped his focus.

Moss still has speed, still can catch, he can still be a threat.  I wish he would have never left NE.  Sure, he did some dumb stuff but he wanted back bad and BB had the chance to bring him back, I believe he would have been a good teammate if brought back.  Patriots instead tried to make others work and it cost the team at least one championship, possibly two.

I don't think that letting moss go cost the Patriots a championship. We don't know that. Brady at times would force the ball to Moss and it would end up incomplete or intercepted sometimes. BB hasn't done anything to cost the Patriots a championship, they didn't win in 2007 when Moss had his best season either.

4 catches for 47 yards with a TD. Pretty good for a guy out of the game for 20 months playing on the road.

Babe why don't you get off of BB's back for trading Moss and just let him do his job. I'm sure you know better then BB that letting Moss go was a mistake but maybe you should let BB make the decisions and let it go

They bought in branch to replace moss and he was good for a while...  But now he's home while bad boy Randy gets a TD in his first game.

Apparently he's now a red zone specialist.  Makes sense to rotate him in slowly to get his reps up to speed.  Moss just got stale here.  and O'Brien screwed him over...

A tall fast guy with great hands and football IQ ... You would think he'd be useful to  a football team (as long as he stays in football shape).  I mean it's kinda hard to miss a lanky freak running through a defense . They just need the balls to understand his personality and deal with it.

That said, I just hope he can keep his mouth shut and just catch everything thrown in his direction, except sh!t from the media, which you know will be coming at some point, or maybe they leave an old guy alone?

I have clearly questioned some moves from BB as a GM. But I admit that. Many many people have. You won't admit you question his worth as a coach. That's the difference between you and me.
