i was thinking along those lines except i think warren is older and cohen will be claimed where as warren would be available...and that wendell is hurt...im thinking connelly can play center... not really overly impressed with the guards... plus they will load up the practice squad with olineman

tate will surely be claimed ...where anderson was a free agent that pretty much was overlooked...he def has some speed..but wouldnt that hinder cunninghams development??

it would be interesting to see what free agents are still out there that never signed with noone...

I have trouble believing tate will make the team. His value has greatly diminised with the new kickoff rules...and he hasnt developed as we hoped

Im hoping he has a big game today...i really want him to work out

I think Tate will make the team.  Chad is the wildcard in the WR.  he is not getting the playbook down.  tate has a lot of upside.  If Chad fails, Tate could be a backup plan.  Barrett will also be kept.  He is big and strong.  An unknown at safety.  I still contend that Hoyer will be traded.  It is just a feeling but not often that BB carries 3 QB's.  hopefully Farnham makes it to the practice squad.  He is an interesting prospect.

    Re: my 53 man squad..

Yeah Tate has lost his spot as a KR imo. He started off strong as a returner last year but lost speed towards the end of the season. Actually the last 4 games he was a below average returner. His pre-season returns haven't been any better. Actually given the new rules I think Edelman or Vereen might be the better KR men. Also, Brady lost trust in Tate late in the season. With Price looking good I think that makes Tate the odd man out.

I understand Cohen being younger but then again younger doesn't mean better. If you already have Brace and Deadrick on PuP and Pyror and Love on the team is one extra younger player worth the spot over a better and more experienced player? The other thing to think about is Wright's job. With his recent string of injures and the amount of players that can fill his role is his job safe vs Warren or Cohen?

    (3) QB: Brady, Hoyer, Mallett
    (4) RB: Green-Ellis, Woodhead, Vereen, Ridley
    (6) WR: Welker, Branch, Johnson, Price, Edelman, Slater
    (2) TE: Gronkowski, Hernandez
    (4) OT: Light, Vollmer, Solder, Maneri
    (5) G/C: Mankins, Koppen, Connolly, Wendell, Ohrnberger
    (5) DE: Ellis, Carter, Anderson, Moore, Cunningham
    (6) DT: Wilfork, Haynesworth, Warren, Pryor, Love, Wright
    (6) LB: Mayo, Spikes, Ninkovich, Fletcher, Guyton, Koutouvides
    (5) CB: McCourty, Bodden, Arrington, Dowling, Butler
    (4) S: Meriweather, Chung, Brown, Barrett
    (3) ST: Gostkowski, Mesko, Dearth

Carrying 2 tight ends and cutting Tate were the toughest decisions for me. The Pats can get away with one fewer tight end by using an OL in that role. Right now, that player is probably Connolly moving from the RG position w/ Wendell substituting or even Solder lined up as a tight end. With Morris also cut, Connolly can fill the FB role at times but so could Ridley, Hernandez or Green-Ellis.

Tate is a tough cut because of the investment of a 3rd round pick for him and the questions for the WR position for next year. He hasn't shown enough to distringuish himself from even the lowest WRs in the team's preseason camp. Even Slater has shown in camp a better ability to get downfield and make the catch than Tate. Other places are more valuable to fill at this point than Tate. We could address WR for next year through another early pick as a developmental option. We'll have a better idea of where Edelman and Price stand.

I have seen Warren and Anderson as two players that a number of reporters have wanted to have the Pats cut. I see Warren at this point as the Pats 3rd best DL. While keeping him on the roster week 1 should guarantee his contract, it's worth it since he is a potential impact player in the middle. him and pryor make a nice tandem as the next group of DTs on this team. If Wright isn't ready, having Warren there is a big help. Anderson is probably the team's 2nd best pass rusher. I don't want him playing non-passing downs but he is valuable enough in that 3rd down situation to warrant a roster spot. Moore is a capable early down backup to be that 3rd rotational DE. Cunningham has value in development. He's the only DE on a multi-year contract.

Koutouvides is probably the one surprise addition on my roster. Him, Brown and White are primarily special team specialists. White would be the one that we would expect to have the inside track for the roster spot because he was on the team last year. I like though what I saw from him on defense. I could see him potentially moving into Guyton's regular LB role as the season progresses.

It'd be interesting if Tiquan Underwood did make the roster. He does have terrific raw athleticism.

Posted by msteven[/QUOTE] Unless I miss my guess Tate is a goner! 3years no production at WR...Cripes sakes even Slater who had no position coming into the league catches balls thrown in his direction Tate not so much! After watchi9ng tonights game Underwood would beat out Tate he's faster and he caught 4 passes for 54 yrds. I didn't see Molden though I'm sure he was on the field
tonights game after the first half was a snooze fest, minus Coughlin reaching into his bag of tricks to get his team going! The gints are in terrible shape.
