I'd be surprised to see the pats get a top 50 pick out of Mallett but good luck. If Alex Smith is only getting a 2nd rdr (granted it is #33 or #34, right?), I just don't see it.
Alex Smith took the 49ers to the brink of a superbowl appearance and was leading the league this year in completion percentage before his concussion. That is both professional experience and performance.Mallett does not have either of those things yet.

Cassell's contract makes him untradable...he will be cut in short order. -

just because he is signed til age 40 doesn't mean he will be playing for NE til age 40. if BB see's a rising star in mallett he will have no problems shipping brady if his play declines in the next couple seasons.
Brady didn't take a low salary to be traded
brady doesn't own or run the new england patriots. he's a player.
Together Kraft/BB/ Brady turned us from Patsies to perennial champs.....Brady DID NOT sign this contract thinking BB or Kraft would screw him. I guess the word Loyalty wasn't floated in your household...
