    Nnamdi Asomugha

This guy is actually someone who fits the bill of what the Patriots seek in talent and value.

He knows he will need to take a pay cut. Might not save him in Philly as the money will go to DRC and Asomugha may be odd man out.

    31/32

    Tall

    Man to Man

One of many casualties in Reids disfunctional system/team

Young enough to still have skills

Old enough to know the window is closing

Keep an eye on this one.....

Isn't Grimes coming off an achilles?  That is a nasty injury to come back from.

The only problem with this is BB likes to play plenty of zone as part of he likes to set up QBs, as did Reid.

Some guys don't want to play it, don't get it or don't care because they're so used to getting by in man their whole career. Not sure how I feel about it.

I suppose he or any veteran CB that's cut will be similar to that of a FA like a Talib, etc.

Wondering how much Brent Grimes would cost and wondering he'd be a better fit.

"Getting by in man" Bwa ha hah ah ahaha ahhahahahahahahaha! ha! ha!

You are such a tool.  This is clearly a comment made to try to cover up for McCourty's inability to play man by somehow proclaiming that zone requires some kind of unique skill set.  Nobody, I mean nobody believes that a good man corner would be unable to play zone.

Great man corners in the NFL are uncommon.  That;s why so few teams do it well.  NY Jets anyone?

Again, it depends. You're partially correct and so am I.  BB doesn't run zones because he didn't have good man cover guys. He runs zones to confuse the QB.   Sure, there has been times when they've had injuries or weak Dbs where they had to play in a conservative zone, but that's not the discussion, Mr Dummy.

Do you really think Andy Reid wanted zones in Philly with Samuel, Aso and DRC because they can't cover in man? Of course not, you idiot. It's called scheming.  Aso isn't good at it because Oakland never really ran zones. Gee, I wonder why a one dimensional D in Oakland wasn;t successful as a group?

Any team that plays exclusive man is predictable and we don't see them winning SBs, do we?

No, we don't. Even Balt mixes in and out. Pitt.   Those teams favor man, but they at least play SOME zone. You act like zone for bad defenses. LOL

Your team tries zone just once and they look like MORONS.  Welker toasted Revis and Smith in 2011 on that play out of halftime.  Brady shredded it. He always shreds it.  You know why? Because your D doesn't play zone. When they do, they stink, so they rely on their best chances in man. Enjoy  your one dimensional D.

You're right in that, quality CBs who can play man are somewhat rare, especially now in this league, but you've never understood that a good zone scheme is very effective over the course of a game.

Your D isn't cerebral or team-centric enough to do it. LOL

Cromartie is as dumb as a bag of rocks and only cares about INTs.   Revis isn't good in zone because the Jets don't use it.   Wake us when the Jets D is feared.

yes, Queenie, hasn't done it = can't do it.  You say Revis can't play zone because he's a great man corner?  Revis can play whatever he wants.  No teams play exclusive anything.  Let's see, your entire premise about Greggory being a better S than Landry was because he had picks.  Your entire premise of McCourty having a better rookie year than Revis was based on picks. Now, you are faulting Cromrtie for picks while he was the number one CB on a top pass D.  Still waiting on that explanation of how the Jets were so much better in their pass D in points allowed, red zone D, opposing passer rating, yards per attmept etc while the patsies have all the better players who led the worst pass D.

You are a complete idiot.  Each post proves that more than the last.

Nnamdi or DRC would be interesting fits! However noone is going to give Nnamdi another big contract after his less than stellar play in Philly.

Better off bringing back Talib for 1 year, in sort of a prove it to us contract.  I don't think the market will be hot for Talib at all.  Pats bring him back for 1 yr deal...

He can't man up anyone, anymore, just like Bailey. He's a number 2 now, not a number 1.

If you forget the Cory Dillon clause then.......

Philly....has been the destroying grounds for at least a dozen talented players.

When the O coordinator and D coordinator argue with each other, brutally by the way, and the HC does nothing.....well that Team is not being led by anyone.

My guess is that they'll kick the tires on Talib and see if they can reach a deal before they entertain any of the top free agent corners...

Asuming that Denard (CB) and McCourty (FS) are locks. The priority in both free agency and the draft in my opinion is to find a strong safty and a corner to compliment both...Resigning Talib would serve to help the continuity of the unit.

As for Nnamdi Asomugha. The question that I would pose is why would the Patriots even consider signing him based on what transpired in Philly? Where he struggled with zone coverages and was exposed as the worst run support tackling corner since Prime Time. My take is the guys too soft for Belicheck. I could be wrong though...

Where's I Ras Dowling? the kid showed promise in his rookie year is he still on the roster?

Ras is still around but hanging on by a thread. If he doesn't do anything in training camp, I expect him to be butlered And wheatlyied . ...sounds like a new breakfast concoction

i think we have to assume we don't get much out of Ras. I would pass on nhmadi...look to first lock up Talib, if that fails then DRc, and we should also grab a corner in the draft. How fast I think depends on FA to a degree.
