Seems like the Pats get their reasonable share of respect to me. Winning a SB would probably elevate that perception quite a bit.

Come on TFB, do we REALLY care about what the pundits think?  Yeah, it is always nice to hear them gushing about the Pats, but, let's not get carried away when they are not gushing about the Pats.  They have opinions, which can also be impacted by personal feelings towards a team, as they are not much different than fans but with, you hope a bit more intelligence, let alone information.  But, when you still have reporters refer to Spygate.. well, you know!

No, don't really care but it does get frustrating to listen to everyone trying to drag them down.  Why not talk about the defense improvement?  Why not talk about DMC at safety, Talib and Dennard playing good, the front 7 putting pressure on the QB, the turnovers the D create?  It's all been about the Texans are going to be much better then last time because they have some players back.  What about Gronk being back?  And the comparison to 2010 Jet regular season blow out then losing to them in the playoffs... Give me a break.  This Patriots team is better then 2010 in all aspects of the game!!

Even though I do think it will be a 11 point win tomorrow, I want a big blowout to shut up all those doubters!

Seriously, this is getting crazy!  The Patriots year in and year out are in the hunt for the Championship, the Casino's seem to always have them favored to win it all yet all the reporters and analysts give no respect.

Show me another team who is in the running every year.  Not the Packers, they left early last season and aren't favored to win Saturday.  The Saints?  Nope, they didn't even make it this year and they were knocked out early last year.  The Giants?  Nope!  They can't even make the playoffs!  Steelers?  Nope, where are they this year, at home!!  Falcons?  As of now they can't even win a playoff game.  BUT the Patriots, always in the playoffs, always having a great regular season, record numbers,  yet all I hear this week is the comparison to the 2010 Jets regular season blow out and then losing to them in the playoffs.  Heck, many of these jealous reporters and analysts are picking the Texans based on what happened in 2010.  Unreal! Where is the respect?

I Can't wait for this game to get over so we can hear all next week the Broncos are going to beat them.

something tells me ur a weeeee bit sensitive to this and thus overreacting

what happened in other years or even during the season doesn't necessarily dictate how the playoffs will shake out and if the favorites are all that much better than the underdog and vice versa

I dunno who you are listening to but most of the radio people I heard today-which includes ESPN, local NY stations and the Fantasy Football channel all picked the Pats to win vs houston

I don't think I am, it just gets frustrating after a while.  You hear good break downs of each game then they get to the Patriots and it's.. Well, remember 2010.. blah, blah, blah.  Sure some or most predict them to win but they always cover their butts with this 2010 stuff.  Again, this team is much better then 2010, talk about that!

No respect? Everybody feels this way. Pats get plenty of respect.

    1. Don't take it personally if not everyone picks the Pats. People always seem to get upset when even just one "expert" picks the opposing team. As much as it sucks to say, they've been right at least once in the Patriots last 6 playoff appearances.

    2. Everything that I've seen pretty much has upwards of 90% of a websites analysts picking the Pats over HOU.

You probably called anyone who picked the Giants over the Pats in Super Bowl 42 a complete idiot who knows nothing about football. You probably called anyone who picked the Jets over the Pats in 2010 a Pats hater and someone who gives them no respect.

Upsets happen all the time in the NFL. We've been on both sides of post season upsets. No need to get upset when 1 out of 10 people pick the Texans. If that's the case, you have no right to ever pick against the favorite, otherwise you're just being a hypocrite.

dapats...   +1.  Pats fans need to take a chill pill when it comes to opinions about the team from outside the region, let alone from Pats fans themselves here when they are not all glowing about the team!

I live in NYC.  And travel around the country for work a lot.  Ever since the Pats built this run in 2001, they are not well-liked outside of NE.  Even as I explain how many lean years they toiled in Nowhere's-ville

There's a perception that they are like NYY of the NFL and we fans are the cockiest. Like the Cowboys in the 90s.

This is why I want that 4th ring, so everyone can just shut their pieholes.

and this perception is  true...i have called pats fans the yankees fans of the nfl as there is that same sore winner/sore loser attitude that yankees fans are known for

not all certainly but more than enough to make the perception reflect reality-it's very clear here
