To a greater or lesser degree there is some truth to that.  With all due respect, so what?  Because this country doesn't have an umblemished record in international affairs we should fold our tent and place a giant 'kick me' sign on the Statue of Liberty?

It is my belief that we remain the greatest nation ever conceived by man with a flawed but still superior system of government.  By my way of thinking it's worth fighting for and I have.  If you disagree, more power to you.  In this country you have the right not only to disagree but to vigorously and publicly state that disagreement.

No, I think America should defend itself, and to the extent it can, others.  I just think it should not be going around starting wars like in Iraq and Afghanistan.

I agree that Iraq was a difficult move to justify and it's still not entirely clear to me the 'why' of it although I do have my suspicions.  Afghanistan is entirely different matter and I will simply leave it there.

Woah this is freaky.  Whenever I click on this thread, an advertisement for a 1942 WW2 game pops up.

    Spy much boston.com?

Advertisements? Sorry for the IE fail bro!

Anyhow you can now get BF1942 from Origin for free, but as Babe pointed out it doesn't seem to work well with Windows 7.

It was for the removal of Saddam,Which the two countries that control American Foreign Policy wanted,Israel and Saudia Arabia.See Saddam wanted to take over the Mideast and Africa,or atleast the best parts.Kuwait pays the American president between 4-6 million a Term for protection and to not develope alternative energy sources.Saudia Arabia 8-10 which now goes in Obamas pocket.Iraq did have legitimate claims to Kuwait which was part of Iraq till the British got tired of fighting to steal oil from Mesopotamia and anxed and made Kuwait.Saddam offered to sell America crude oil at half price if they would arm him.Obviously Israel and the Saudias wouldnt let that happen.

This pretty much sums it up.  Amazing that the American people are powerless, or seemingly too complacent, to do anything about this.

I see rickturd, Every one you think is a "hero" are the only heros right, everyone else are pawns. You never been in a war to know the definition of sacrifice and true hero, patriot..etc. I know why you didn't join the military, you're too much of a coward to be in a real fight, you like to take your fight to a forum near you.

I'm not saying that everyone in the miltary are or were heros, just saying at least we have the brass to put everything in the line. Unless you have your own bussiness, we are all pawns one way or another we work for someone else interest.

So many posts from Babe who lacked the nuts to serve. Just like his football knowledge, his military expertise comes from sitting on his duff and playing games.

    In response to BabeParilli's comment:

Since we were getting into a bit of WW2 discussion in the avatar thread I thought it might be interesting to take a break from arguing about the run game, defense and Brady's play with this topic.

To start I'm wondering if any here have ever played what are called "conflict simulations", or "wargames". Avalon Hill, SPI and GDW to name a few published these historical simulation games. Computers have virtually eliminated these types of things, though they were a niche hobby anyway, even in their heyday.

Anybody like military video games, such as: Company of Heroes, Call of Duty, Medal of Honor, Brothers in Arms, Battlefield etc.? (these aren't to be considered historical)

Who is your favorite historical military figure? I'm a Patton admirer myself. I imagine there are many who are knowledgeable about his career.

GMT makes games that are much better than the Avalon Hill games that I played as a kid with my dad. The dice rolling in Avalon Hill games were too much all or nothing in some games with crazy results. If you liked Avalon Hill games Babe you should check out GMT's web site. The games are rather expensive ( a result of having to stay afloat in a niche market with only a few thousand sales a year) but the artwork is tremendous and they are really well done. There is one called Wilderness War which recreates the French and Indian war which is so well done that my wife has enjoyed playing it. You can play it online also at special websites which lets the computer roll the dice for you (both players need to have their boards set up though to keep track of the action).

Wow, did not realize so many Pat fans actually are embarrased to be Americans. Someone actually thinks Che Guevara is a hero on this sight. The facts are communist governments have murdered millions more of their own citizins than the American military has managed to kill in all of it's wars combined. America is not perfect but the western democracies allow more freedom than any socialist country has ever allowed.

I'd be interested in learning what facts to which you have clear and direct access leads you to that conclusion.  Not what you've read from on line sources or any other news media; not what his support network tells you; not what your value system compels you to believe; your direct knowledge of the case, if you please.

I know what he's been charged with and from what I understand there's quite a bit of evidence to support the charges.  Now what heroic act has this young man committed that leads you to label him a hero?

You mean Bush 41 wasnt telling the truth when he said the first Iraq war was about "naked aggression" and not about oil??

I don't think it was about either one.

Be interested in leaning the sources of this information.  The removal of Saddam is pretty much a given.  The rest, well, source please?

One of the charges carries with it the potential for the death penalty, if convicted:  Art 104, Aiding the Enemy.  Burden of proof on this one is pretty steep though.  Doubt he'll face capital punishment.  If they haven't already, there'll be a plea bargain.
