According to this, we might be interested in Osi.
I really do not know what to think about this, and would love to have other people's input.

FOR N.E.'S THIRD SECOND ROUND PICK HE'D BE A WISE AQUISITION AND PERHAPS N.Y. GIVES UP A 5TH ROUNDER AS WELL IF THE PATS MAKE IT THEIR SECOND,SECOND ROUND PICK.IT IS UNLIKELY THAT SOMEONE ON THE BOARD IN THE MID TO SECOND ROUND WOULD HAVE HIS SKILL SET AND ATHLETICISM AND HE CERTAINLY WOULD PROJECT PHYSICALLY TO BE ABLE TO PLAY BOTH D.E. AND OLB IN THE PATS 34 DEFENSIVE SET.

    Re: Osi Umenyiora

If for only our 4th I'd think long and hard about it, esp if as the story suggests Graham and Hughes is gone. The issue is that after missing all 08' he didn't seem like the same player coming back in 09 as was shown when he didn't start a single game after week 12. His total tackles also took a huge hit this past year. I might question how much he has left and what type of player he'll be. That's also asking him to switch positions from 4-3 DE to 3-4 OLB. That's not an easy thing to do when you've been playing a 4-3 DE for the last 6 years

I agree with giving up the 53rd pick

    Re: Osi Umenyiora

According to the article the Jints are looking for a 3rd or 4th rounder.  If Osi is 100% over his injury he'd be worth 53 overall all day, but if we can get him for our 4th or if we could acquire a 3rd which would be easy even better.  He was a beast b4 the injury.

Does any know what kind of character guy he is, coughlin and BB are similiar coaches would think he would be a good fit attitude wise not sure about scheme wise don't the jints play 4-3?

Lets not spend anything special on a 3rd down specialist.

    Re: Osi Umenyiora

I'm not biting on this one. This sounds like another Burgess trade gone south. Of course, Osi is a beast and younger than Burgess, but he is best suited as a 4-3 DE, not a 3-4 OLB. If we played him in this capacity, it would fail horribly.

Now if the Pats are considering running a heck of a lot more 4-3's, I'm in as long as he play DE. But, I'm not giving a 2nd rounder for him. I say give a 4th, and a conditional pick in 2011 based on performance. Call it a 3rd.

    Re: Osi Umenyiora

If he is 100% healthy this would be a great pick up but only if the Pats are going to run the 4-3 a lot more.  If not going to run the 4-3 more then I would still think long and hard about picking up Taylor for right now while grooming someone to take Taylors spot in the next two years.

    Re: Osi Umenyiora

Osi can play OLB in Belichick's system. He can't play DE anymore because he wasn't a player that used his power to get of the tackle's block, he used his speed and athleticism. Last year, he wasn't 100% and his speed failed.

    Re: Osi Umenyiora

This is a good deal for their 4th (as the story states they would request at least a 4th) regardless of how much he plays at 4-3 DE or if they use him as a 3-4 OLB elephant style LB.

    Re: Osi Umenyiora

Even if BB Drafts Graham, Hughes or Kindle at 22 why not get Osi if it will only cost a 4th this year. I do think he can be an olb and should be able to get to the qb. We need guys who can put pressure on the qb and when healthy Osi can do that. Do you think we can draft anyone better in the 4th round. If you have say Hughes and Osi as your olb's that would help the db's out a lot.
