The 49ers have expressed to others that a deal for QB Alex Smith is effectively complete. Can't be finalized til league year begins 3/12

so it's not official, both clubs view it at as it's effectively done. I do not know the other team. KC and JAX are 2 teams that make sense
I wonder who the team is? I'll be interested to see.

Guess KC won't be giving up that #6 for our back-up after all. LOL

I believe you're thinking about Cleveland, not KC.

If it is to KC, this is a very good move for them. This would allow them to draft "Best Player Available" with the #1 pick. (I'm assuming they aren't going to give up #1 for Smith...) I could very easily see KC quickly becoming a threat to win the AFC West with a decent QB (Smith) combined with the talent that they already have.
If the team is Jax, well, let's just say that I feel bad for Alex Smith if this is the case.

Can't picture it being KC (although they need a QB), he doesn't seem like someone that Andy Reid would go after. Maybe they traded him to us? Rusty has been telling everyone Smith is a better QB...makes sense. Bawahahaha!

Off the top of my head, KC, Jax, Buf, Ari, Cle (although less likely than the others), and the NYJ would make the most sense.

Hmm, that is surprising...thought that was the likely spot. I wouldn't be too excited if I'm a fan of wherever he lands - too me he is nothing more than a really safe backup. He won't lose the game for you, but he isn't going to win it for you either, in my opinion.

I wouldn't give up more than a 3rd rounder for Smith, and his $8.5mil. salary over the next two years. Being successful with a great team like the 49ers is one thing. Doing it with a bottom feeder like the Chiefs is something else. Still, he's made great strides over the past two years...and he's only 28 years old: http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/stats/_/id/8416/alex-smith

Hmmmm...I'll be curious as to how much he fetched. KC is the likely place. Most likely a future pick, money in the bank, as SF has a bunch of picks this year.

One other team that really needs a top tier QB is the NYJ,I wonder if they made the move?
