lol 150 million...  no wonder they signed so quick.  usually the agent will try and milk the market a little.   Yankees get hosed again... lol.  Maybe they can get him some juice to keep him on the field or maybe the power to pop one over their little porch wall in right field.

it's good bank.  Not many would turn it down.  Good for Ellsbury

Good for Ells. BAD for Yankees. 7/153-mil for a 30-yr old with 10-homer power and who has seen his better days already is another terrible decision for the Yanks. Think Arod with no power. You gotta wonder why they are ignoring their real issue right now, PITCHING. Sure, he can steal some bases, but he didn't steal anything of consequence in the Play-offs when it mattered most. Cherrington made a great call by letting him go........GO SOX!!!

Has Ellsbury ever played more than a 100 games a season? This guy always seems to be hurt.

The Spankees paid way too much for this guy....

You redsox fans are cute. Get over here! I want to a pat you on the back and send you on your merry way.

You guys have always been considered New Yorks redheaded step child and ...you all know it. Like I said we NYers think it's cute that our little brothers from just up the road a piece on 95 finally have something to cheer about. History speaks for itself as far as us NY Yankees fans go.

We all know the pats haven't won anything in what is it 10-12 years now so you enjoy your redsox.Even though the amount of steroids they were taking is still ridiculous

Here is what you NY/NJ morons don't get:

Bostonians/NErs are very secure in who they are and where they live. We do not care about the smells eminating up from the southwest.

NY/NJ basically doesn't exist to us.  When you have to travel somewhere, you just drive as fast as possible and hold your breath to get through it like everyone else in the world who hates NY/NJ, as overcrowded and annoying as it is.

We have everything NY has and much, much more. The superior elements are vast and great.

    Enjoy being smelly!

Don't expect him to understand this. The fact that he is trying to downplay another WS title for the Sox is pretty sad.

More power to Ellsbury for getting that kind of a deal.  Horrible deal for the Yanks IMO.  7 years??  $150 million??  Ellsbury brings a lot to the table but that's a long time and a lot of money for someone who often hasn't been healthy enough to play.

A heck of a player when healthy. Was a vital contributor on 2 WS teams. Sorry to see him go but at that price the Sox would have been foolish to re sign him. Keep building that farm system and you can be the Devil Rays with extra ooomph. The Rays farm system allows them to keep up a competitve team at a low budget. The Red Sox need to go that route with the extra cash to pick up a stud free agent every other year or so but this is the Pats board so nuff said.

"Like I said we NYers think it's cute that our little brothers from just up the road a piece on 95 finally have something to cheer about"

Many New Yorkers are Mets fans and have no connection to this conversation. And by finally you mean - for the last nine years since the Sox came back from 0-3 and beat the Yanks on the way to winning the World Series. So yeah, it's been a good nine years.

It's rare to be a Yankee and Jets fan. Most Yankee fans are frontrunners and thus root for the Giants.

I suspect you are not a genuine NY fan but a frontrunner who roots for the teams near you that are winning and abandons the others who are not. Later you'll be rooting for the Nets, or the Koicks, or whoever gives you a feeling of false pride when they are on top.

p.s. Enjoy Ellsbury. If he can stay on the field he'll be great. For a few years till he can't run anymore...
