    Our Defense is Close

    get Mayo, VW, Kelly healthy.

sign a real strong safety. someone good. (whitner, pollard)

    get Talib back.

get some damn DE/DT depth through FA  and draft

and i think we could be great like Seattle.

glimpses were shown the first few weeks until the injuries came on.

need one or two more playmakers and health

Your delusional. Mayo adds nothing But tackle assists 5 yards down field.  We need a stud DT and a real pass rusher to compliment Jones And all new DB's.

MAyo is a top 5 LB in the league.

we need a stud DT, depth at DE and a strong safety that can hit someone and make a play, resign Talib and get another tall CB to move Dennard to the slot so Arrington never sees the field again

this was part sarcasm becuase i said we were close yet made a semi-long list.

there are many things needed to become great but they COULD happen

Our defense is nothing like the defense we saw today.  Healthy, the Pats defense is currently a good defense.  But the Seahawks' defense is truly elite.

I expect to find out in a few years that the Seahawks D was jacked up on PEDs throughout their roster.

That said, there is NO COMPARISON between the Pats defense (even with VW, Kelly, Mayo, etc.) and the defense of the Seahawks or 49ers.

People need to stop with this nonsense, or at least limit it to internet posts.  If you say these things out loud the men in the white coats will come for you.

Very close, especially if healthy and maybe a key FA add than can help on the DL or at Safety.

It was the best D in the AFC early and if Gronk was available for this, oh my.

Yep.  Warnings have been out. Pats the youngest team in the AFC and Seattle is in trouble with some bad contracts and free agents. Pats are right there, but the concern is Brady.

They just won the Super Bowl!

Maybe signing Cliff Avril and Percy Harvin wasn't such a disaster after all.

Both came up big when they needed to.

Danny Amendola, meanwhile, dropped his one pass.  Welker at least caught a bunch . . .

Pats defense close? Is this a joke?

Same defense that gave up 8 straight scoring drives to Broncos?

Same defense that collapsed like a house of cards after Talib went out 2 years in a row?

Same defense that cannot generate any pass rush?

Same defense that does not have elite safeties or cornerbacks ?

About as close as the sun and the moon.
    Hasn't happened in 10 years.

Won't happen until Mr. Bend, break and stay on the field for 2/3rds the game is gone.

    Sorry

    Re: Our Defense is Close

Sorry Joe but we are quite a bit away. At DT asking Wilork and Kelly to come back is a lot. A 1st round pick at DT is needed as well as an extra depth vet like a Raji just incase. They need another pass rushing specialist. Nink is great as an every down player but when you really need to apply pressure they need someone who can generate pressure most times he's on the field. Signing Talib alone won't do anything. He's to often injured and gets hurt to easily in big games. If they bring him back they need another quality backup, almost worth just get a more durable player just to make sure they will last a season instead of Talibe. They need more depth at LB if they are going to let Spikes walk, and finally they need a SS. That's 6 players right there with 4-5 playing significant time. That's a lot of players to find. Not sure I'd call that close. But, I will say they aren't starting from zero and have piece to work off of.. But we are a couple good drafts and some FA's away from coming close to what Sea has on D

Those glimpses were against the Jets and Bucs. They are better than they were but they are in no way close to Seattle.

Best D against 2 rookies in their first and second games and josh freeman.  Even then it took talib batting down a pass in the EZ to beat that s hit.

Warnings are out.  No more SB's with BB as GM.  EVER!

    Bet the farm on it.

Could it, yep it can but saying could it and we're close are two different things. Close is one or two players away we are almost half a rebuild away and we've been rebuilding for 6 years already. They need to make a lot of moves this offseason if thy wnt to get close and the first thing is to use early picks and not trade them back to add depth players. Could they get a top 10 D next year with a couple of moves, sure the can. Could th et a top 3 type of D... well in 2-3 years if the invest right sure but they can't be investing in retreads and moving back to acquire umpteen mid round depth guys and relying on UDFA's. They need upfront talent and 12 picks from the 4th round back isn't going to provide that talent no matter how excited fans get over them after a couple of games.
