    out of bounds

Is there a rule about players going out of bounds during a play?  If tripping was intentional in these cases I don't support it.  Yes there is a line where players must stand behind for safety, but at the same time the players on the field are not supposed to go out of bounds and come back in.  That Dolphins players was running out of bounds.  Should not have been tripped, but should not have been out of bounds.

    Re: out of bounds

The rule is that if u are forced out of bounds  , you must make an immediate effort to get back into the field of play .
( Occasionally I've seen a flag thrown when a gunner stays out of bounds when it was clear that he could have  come back onto the field sooner )

Also - as most everyone knows , if you go out of bounds -you cannot be the first defender to touch a punted ball .

It's a judgment call as to whether the officials believe a gunner is "forced" out -- which doesn't necessarily mean "pushed" -- that you rarely see addressed unless, Cap says, said player actually makes a play on the ball.
