    Patriots Contracts

Some of the contracts on this Pats team are out of control.  I mean, look at what Brady is earning!  Look at what they're paying Mankins.

    Who negotiated these deals anyway?

    Re: Patriots Contracts

I think you are being somewhat sarcastic here but based on performance and contracts of other QB's in the league Brady is pretty much a bargain at his cap  numbers for the next 3 years.

Just doing my part to bring down the hypocrisy here, my friend.

One can't complain about Brady and Mankie and their exorbitant pay in one breath and then suggest the guy who gave them those contracts is the best ever in the next breath.

Well, one can, if that one is okay with looking like a total fool.

    Re: Patriots Contracts

Mankins was worth every penny, and more, WHEN he signed his contract.

Now, based on performance he did not live up to the money.

That's how future contracts play out...you never know if the player earns it or not. That would be true genius if you knew up front in a player would live up to the contract.

Now I'm not saying Mankins is terrible but I thought he would be better, injuries, age or what have you I don't believe he's a top 2 or 3 guard.

Yes, I can. That's only one contract of hundreds that I don't agree with. 1 out of 300 over a decade of GM work is incredible.

You have no problem with the Ochocinco contract?  Haynesworth?  Adalius Thomas?  Brandon Lloyd?

    4. Acquiring Baltimore's 2004 first-round pick (turned into  Vince Wilfork) and 2003 second-rounder in exchange for a 2003 first-round pick (19th) used on QB Kyle Boller (April 26, 2003).

Okay, so he trades down from one year to the next 19 to 21 and gets a second round pick also.  It's great that he got Wilfork there.  It's not a feather in his cap that Baltimore flubbed their pick.  And what happened with that second round pick?

    Re: Patriots Contracts

Ocho Cinco...traded a 5 and a six for him, then acquired his remaining three years 18 million.

Jonathan Fanene. Cincy laughed as we signed him to a 3 year 12 million dollar deal. They laughed harder when he went home crying, never to be seen again.

Leigh Bodden. 25 million dollar deal. Never made it past his second year into it.

Fred Taylor. 12 million dollar deal. Played four games.

Shaun Ellis. 2 years 8 million. Was supposed to replace Seymore. Instead he literally crapped his pants every Sunday in front of 60k people.

Kyle Arrington. 3 years 12 million

Danny Amendola. 30 million dollar contract

Brandon Llyod. What was it? 15 million

Sciancoe and Fells. 5 million between the both of them...neither one did anything.

    Adalious Thomas. 33 million

    Mike Wright. 8 million

Aaron Hernandez. 45 million...turned out to be Dexter Morgan

Holt, Galloway, Gaffney, Stallworth. 6 million. Not a single one could even stand on their own two legs.

Robert Gallery, Joseph Addai, Marcus Stroud. What did they cost? Doesn't matter...not a single one of them made it past two days in training camp!

Adrian Wilson. Gave him a 1.5 million dollar retirement gift. Gave one to John Lynch too.

Albert Heynesworth. 2 years 5 million. They had to dress him up and drive him to his court appearances. Then he tried to punch Pepper Johnson in the face. See yeah later'

There is more, but I have to go shopping:(.  Too bad the Patriots didn't do a little better shopping when we had 5 years of salary cap space and a huge window of opportunity...more draft picks than anyone, etc. we were set up for the future, etc...we were smarter than everyone else.

    The warnings were out people!

Man those are some haunting memories...

What Kraft needs to do is go to Taco Bell and grab some fifteen year old kid and tell him, "here, I have 300 names in a hat. They are free agents, if you pull out 30 that are better than the ones our GM picked, you can have his job". Then he can hire the kid, have Ernie Adams help him with some contracts and buy the kid a 4.00 dollar Lindy's draft publication and tell him to do whatever he wants. If the kid drafts a corner in the second that can't play (see Dowling)? No big deal, we'll let Belichick try out 50 undrafted free agents until he finds one that can cover for ten yards in his scheme. If he drafts a defensive tackle that is a fat useless slob in the second (see Brace)? No problem, we'll have Belichick try out 100 undrafted free agents that can occupy a blocker...no brainer. And who knows? The kid that stuffs lettuce into tacos for a living may just find guys in the first three rounds that can play! And you never know "captain taco" might be able to get some players with 25 million to play with during free agency!

    It's TACO TIME:)

Wow!! That's millions of jars of mayonaisse down the drain! Unfortunately, you are absolutely right. But, the outcry from the Homers is, "Well, who is doing better?"

They miss the point. The bottom line is that, with the presence of Brady and coach BB, that the Pats' had a golden opportunity to become the greatest football dynasty of all time. But, because of the squandering of so many top 100 draft picks, and the poor free agency signings which you correctly cited above...it didn't happen.

You two are so dumb on this topic.  Not one of those players handicapped the big picture or BB's formula.  That's the whole point of a FA budget in his recipe.

BB makes the market come to him.  I am sorry, but you can't admit to dropping out of high school here and then align with a Home Ec teacher who also has no college degree, using a 12 year old's understanding of business and management, mocking Bill Belichick, the best GM and coach of the cap era and of all time.

The guy drafted jones and solder, but there have been too many mistakes. Instead we have the best coach in the NFL patching things together every season...grabbing guys off the street, year, after year, after year. It didn't have to be this way. It really didn't.

No, those moves weren't haunting then because they hadn't happened yet.

What a stupid thing to say.

    Not surprising, but stupid.

Steve Martin, Victor Green, Rick Lyle, Donald Hayes (bust), Joe Panos (retired), Ty Poole (only played 1 year of contract), Terrell BUckley (done in 2002, only good in 2001) ,Cam Cleeland (bust), Scott McCready, Dedric Ward (scrap heap pick up), Fred Baxter (bust), Fred McCary (barely used)....

Shall I keep going?  Ok, James Big Cat Williams, Bob Hallen, JJ Stokes, Wilbert Brown, Lawrence Flugence, Rodney Bailey.

LOL I can do this all day and not even cheat like Mt Hurl does when a players is injured after BB gets the player under the market (Bodden, MIke Wright).

What's blantantly obvious with Mt Hurl's drama queen premise is two things:

    1. Brady has choked and been far worse a QB than he was earlier in his career while being more spoiled with talent on offense in an easier era.

    2. Brady's salary and contract takes up WAY MORe of the budget than it did before, yet the cap is pretty much the same as it was in 2007, 2008 and 2009, when all of this crap started with Brady regressing in the postseason.

Only AFTER his contract increase in 2011 does it look worse, but really, who has been worse in the postseasons?

So, it's really one massive deflection attempt by Mt Hurl and his Brady Ballwashing Group.

Not one of these failed overall investments had any affect on the overall short or long term aspects of the team.

For every name Mt Hurl/Cupcake lists, I can list as many from the SB years when Brady didn't have an ego and was the better QB for our team, actually in a more difficult era for QBs.

    1.  This thread has nothing to do with Brady's post season performance.

    2.  Did you just list a whole slew of other failures by Belichick?  LOL  Thanks.
