Mankins is  definitely a stretch.  He's been banged up all year and missed something like nine games. 

And although I think he's overrated to begin with his better seasons seem to be behind him.

Why do you think Landry shouldn't be on there? He can't cover like a free safety, but he can tackle and hit like strong safeties are supposed to. I'm willing to bet that if he had Belichick coaching him our defense would be much better - it was an injury risk with him for the reasoning we didn't sign him. Christ if Chung played like him you'd be doing cart wheels.

To be fair, statistically, at least, Manning has been the best QB in the AFC.  Brady is fourth in the league after Manning, Rogers, and Ryan.  I think Manning is a shoe in for MVP if the award goes to a QB. Peterson is a possibility, however.

Mankins has not been at his best the past two seasons.  Injuries seem to have hurt his mobility.  We'll see how he performs if he ever gets fully healthy again.  I'm afraid he may be breaking down, much like Neal and Kaczur eventually did.  That pounding takes a toll on one's body.

Mayo is much better than you give him credit for. I heard a lot of the same talk about Mankins when his contract was in dispute. A lot of fans don't give credit to some players. Sometimes it all about hype - by press, fans, even the player themselves. Mayo is in the old mold of Patriot LBs.

Mankins is still the best blocker we've got on the interior line.  He does miss guys more (his mobility isn't as good), but when he engages someone, he really gets excellent push and can really drive DLs back.  

TO the Mankins bashers - if you have been watching you would see that the line plays better with Mankins in there. Period.

BB didnt build and coach teams to win all those games and playoff appearances by not knowing talent. It is highlighted by the way they brought him back from the edge of a bad contract dispute. BB clearly thinks Mankins is exceptional. So more than a fan like myself, BB thinks it. GOod thing all you bashers have no say in the makeup of the roster.
