I think Dane Fletcher should be able to step right in. I'm excited to see what he can do with extended minutes.

More reasons why you don't take five years to rebuild a defense...the foundation falls down before the house goes up.

What's it like to be beat writer for this team? You spend all week getting crapped on by Belichick in press conferences and then have to watch as yahoo breaks a big story...most likely with a crayon. Must be fun!

Not good. Can't afford many more of these injuries. Considering the run-defense issues with Wilfork sidelined for the season, losing Mayo is about the last thing we need at this point.

Sunday against the run-heavy Jets will be interesting.

ya know, Jets OL hasnt been as good as in past seasons. Goodson out for the year. Ivory hasnt done much other than against the Pats. Powell isnt really a good back...mediocre at best...the Jets run game is manageable. Holmes out. Winslow out. Score 17 or more and this is a very winnable game in Jersey

This team is cursed.   For first time in 6 years we have a great defense,  we lose Wilfork and Mayo.   Wilfork and Mayo have been so durable for so long, and this is the year they go down.  Really is awful, no other way to put it.

The first time in recent memory that we have a good defense,  Brady loses his top 5 receivers from the year before.

This team does not get any breaks.

No choice but next dude up...if he's done, he's done...Fletcher isn't Mayo but he's pretty darned good....if this type of injury had to happen it's actually good that it was a LB because they have talented depth there...we shall survive this.. the rest of the eastern division is starting to look quite human and extremely beatable......besides, as long as Mayo isn't put on IR, he might make it back...a few years back he injured his knee and even though only playing at @ 80%, he came back from an injury that was suppossed to end his season then too....time for some deer antler powder

I knew one of his ilk would.   Brady and Welker still choked it down in the 4th qtr of SB 46.

Mayo and the D would have allowed 13 points if not for a reckless INT on 1st down and/or the Welker drop in a wild throw.

And you try to find a way to bash Brady with your lies.   Allowing scores on 3/4 possessions isn't holding crap.  Neither is taking 20 of the 30 minute half to do it.

The Pats have done a stellar job of overcoming growing pains and injuries this season, but as far as I'm concerned, a Super Bowl run is now very much in doubt. Pats can't keep losing players of this caliber and continue to excel.

Bad loss. Maybe worse than Wilfork. Can he be back for playoffs, or is this an IR deal?

i didn't see how he got injured, even after I saw the replay

What is the prognosis for this surgery?

    At least not his legs,

Sometimes , one can wonder about high? But there is no proof

    But I do like fletcher,

Does it mean more spikes in the middle?

and yes Collins will be tested

This league has too many injuries

And they want 18 games? Nuts to that

Hate to break this to you, but he has played for five seasons...that's a lifetime in the NFL...and it's a shame they couldn't of surrounded him with talent during that time span. No worries though, we don't spend to the salary cap for reasons just like this!! Just look at when a vince went down...all that money we saved was spent on that fifth string defensive tackle we cut after two days of watching him practice.

I am sure that Kraft is going to call you tonite and offer you the GM job.
