I, for one, am just burnt watching BB and TB and the Patriots walk off into the shadows for ages.

There are 10 year old kids who weren't born when they last hosted a Lombardi.

Yeah, I know - the Browns, the Bills, the Bungles, the pathetic Jests.  But those orgs patently stink no matter what.
The defense is mediocre at best. BB gives Brady midgets and a always hurt TE to throw to.

It's a miracle we get as far as we do with this collection of crap put together by the greatest GM of all-time.

Probably because Thomas, Thomas and Decker were too busy carving them a new one...
Pats' defensive backfield had no size to man up the Broncos receivers.  Once Talib was out, Thomas had a field day.  Did you see some of the early highlights in which Talib would body up Thomas and Thomas was getting nothing.  Once Talib was out, you could see Dennard not even man up to Thomas.  It was no contest from there.
it's a broken record .  Like Bolden and Smith last season.  They were cooked once Talib went down, AGAIN .

But the difference is we actually need Amendola to perform at a high level since the Pats are pretty thin with WR talent.  Welker has loads of other talent and just needs to contribute.  Amendola has been exactly what I thought he would be this season.  Maybe he can do better next season.

Big-picture view on 2013 season: As time passes, the 2013 campaign will be viewed favorably in terms of the resolve the Patriots showed after significant personnel losses, but that won’t ease the sting that coaches and players will feel after this one. A great opportunity was missed and the surprise, from this viewpoint, was that it was the team’s best player, quarterback Tom Brady, whose mistakes hurt most in the AFC Championship Game.

Brady’s deep ball doesn’t connect: Brady is going to have a long offseason after missing two deep balls in this game -- in the first quarter to Julian Edelman and in the second quarter to Austin Collie -- as there was separation and an open window in which to deliver the football both times. The throw to Edelman, in particular, was a huge play in the game. Brady’s struggles with the deep ball were a big storyline in this game.

exactly.  Frig !  I keep saying this same excuse year after year.  They need more depth also.  What they have can make them win their division but will not bring them to a Superbowl.

It's bad because that window is closing very fast.

Rusty never did get the concept of "effective running game".

The think with Blount is that he is dangerous if he gets past the hole. He is nothing special as far as getting yards on his own. But, there were no holes.

The really bad news is that we actually have more problems than we did 3 years ago, not less.

Brady pulled some rabbits out of his butt with this motley crew to get us enough wins to make the playoffs. I don't know how much longer he can do that stuff.

Re: Patriots vs Broncos Game Thread

The league is built for parity. Years of winning results in a pool of less talented players. It is what it is. This team has no depth at skilled positions and overrated players as starters. This is mostly the fault of BB in his role as GM. He is not as good as GM as he is a head coach.

He showed no faith in the defense he drafted. The play calling in this game supports his lack of faith on the defensive side of the ball. The offense really has no-one to catch a ball.

I tip my hat for the team gettng to the conference game but the lack of talent showed in this game. They were overmatched.

It is what it is. As we head into next season there are so many holes to fill that I cannot see it getting much better quickly. I just hope BB listens to the scouts and drafts the better players rather than the value selections, which really showed just how much value they contributed today.

yes maybe he would not struggle with the deep ball if he has real WR's.  The rookies did what they could, when healthy, but they're not good enough.  Given Brady D Thomas from today,  a Cruz and then let's talk.
