In Response to Pats schedule may not be as easy as ppl think:
[QUOTE]looking at our team schedule, you would think that the pats should steamroll through it to 16-0 maybe 13-3 at worst right? well lets take into consideration that teams usually change from season to season some get better from the previous season some get worse or stay the same. Every Team entered the draft with a need and they adressed them for the most part along with free agency. Now im not saying that the bad teams from last year are dramatically improved for the better after one season, but they are improved and can be very tough to beat. I also think most ppl(Haters) are gonna dis-credit our season and team based off of our perceived "easy sschedule" Im not saying that we might lose alot of games if any, but I notice that ppl were making a "hot topic" out of our schedule and the fact that we just left the superbowl. The league makes the schedule we just play em. Your thoughts?

A schedule in which the records of the prior year are used as a basis for whether or not it is a "tough" schedule is just fodder for discussions like this. Your last sentence is most appropriate to simply "... just play em." because all of the teams on the schedule will not lay down simply because they had a poor record on 2011. What is does do is provide fodder for Patriot nay sayers who will claim the poor strength of schedule is a root cause for the following season's good record. Again, naysayer fodder against the Pats. Look at how 2011 played out.. there were some supposedly good teams that fell on their faces. Until you play the games, you never know how good you are. On paper means squat!!

    IMO

Though opponents prior records are not the be-all , end -all for predictin' the current schedules toughness ...

Its still the best barometer .

The Pats have an EZ schedule .

This means nothing. Naysayers will whine about how "easy" the schedule is based on the prior year's results, and the luck of when you play the division in the other conference and within your own (how strong they really are, like the NFC West). Then, in midseason, they whine that their team is really playign a tougher schedule basewd on what that team is doing that season (again, look at the 49'ers last season). Pre-season last year, the 49'ers were no better than an even money bet to win the division. Even the Rams were given a shot; it was literally wide open.

The only thing that matters is how you do with your 16 games, NOT how the opponents did the year before, or what kind of season they are having now.

Yes. He ran all over your vaunted "10 ranked" D. lol

NE had more sacks, more turnovers, made more big plays, etc than your regresssing and aging D did last year.  Period.  Your team also played far more pathetic QBs like the Jax one.

The whole "easy schedule" thing is a total joke. "Any given Sunday" holds true each and every week. We will have to earn every win just like everyone else. To say it's easy is just ridiculous.

Re: Pats schedule may not be as easy as ppl think

If it does in fact turn out to be an "easy" schedule it will be the worst thing for our chances at winning a 4rth SB. If we cruise through a bunch of weak defensive teams and average 34ppg with Brady throwing even near the amount that he did last year(all time high at 34 years old) then we are in trouble come post season.

It takes 2 sides to be a SB champion(offense and defense) but we know that this team is geared toward the offensive side of the ball, it is built around Tom Brady and we need to run an offense that helps Brady by using more then 1 aspect. (screen, run, reverse, check downs, FB receptions, 3rd TE receptions, 3rd WR receptions, etc.)

Every year our offense knives through the mediocre talent and struggles against good teams, only to under perform in the playoffs. Our defense gets gashed in the 1st half of the regular season only to come together by December and exceed in the playoffs, even with the defensive rebuilding process that we've been going through for the last few years.

This year we need an offense that can kill you anyway they choose and a defense that that can get off the field. I think we have all the necessary pieces its just a matter of getting it done. An easy schedule will not help that imo.
