TripleOG - just looked up the possessions in SB46,  the Pats and Giants both had 8.  Giants kept the ball longer and the Pats had the only two giveaways.  Either way, it is still a head scratcher why the offense has a tendancy to go into a funk these last few playoff years since 2007.

Yes, they both had 8 in both sb's and the jints and steeler regular season games too.  That is why they were low scoring games.  When you only play 2/3rds the normal possessions, the score tends to be less.  Their 30+ points per game average was done with 11-14 possessions a game,  Not 8.  It's the defenses JOB to get off the field and give the O as many possessions as possible so that they actually have opportunity to score.

Defensive stats are for the season. They do not reflect both the changes to personnel nor the the growth of rookies, first and second year players in the system, and changes to roles (such as McCourty more solidly a FS rather than CB).

I think we - and BB - should expect more out of this D during the playoffs than their season numbers.

Pezz...  we know the D did not play as good as they could have given how they finished the 2011 season.  Stick a fork in this baby!!

I like the red zone stats, and of course the turnover ratios. That really tells the true picture.

bredbru, IMHO, the running game is better for this year's playoff run than year's past.   We shall see, won't we?
