Re: Pats Sunday Bunch - - - Fantasy Football rosters

Rocky, Woodhead, P-Rob, and NEGame had the best drafts, with Red Doc having a sneaky good draft.  Woodhead's team is the most interesting, with Vick and Felix Jones both question marks who could produce in BIG ways for him.  NEGame has a great starting lineup but little depth.  P-Rob has a great 1-2-3 receiving punch and his big question is just whether Mendelhall's 385 carries last year will affect his body this season.  Rocky has what I consider the most complete team in the league. [BradyWelker could be a big deal, too - I didn't have confidence in Hillis or Moreno, but in a vacuum with their bad teams notwithstanding I think they're great picks]

I made up for mediocre and underwhelming starters with a good bench.  Almost all of my players are starters on their teams, so I don't have to root for injuries in order for them to see the field.  Tolbert gets a ton of goal-line carries and touchdowns in San Diego's high-powered offense and could take over if Ryan Matthews continues to look like Laurence Maroney, Marshawn Lynch is also a starter albeit on a bad team, Roy Williams is the only traditional receiver in Chicago and should get the red zone looks in their offense, and Burress is a big target for the inaccurate Sanchez.

I just hope Matthew Berry was right about Josh Freeman.  Apparently he had the second most rushing yards for any QB, but somehow managed not to score a rushing TD.  If he scores 3-4 rushing TDs and throws 20+ passing TDs, I got a decent QB in the 8th round or whenever I took him in the deep middle of the draft.

I'm thinkin RBs proposed a trade to me,

Ray Rice for Jamaal Charles even up.

I accepted. He drafted Rice 5th. I drafted Charles 6th.

Good move? Both players are pretty evenly matched.

Here's the matchups during our playoffs,

    week 14 KC@NYJ  IND@BAL
    week 15 GB@KC   BAL@SD
    week 16 OAK@KC CLE@BAL

It was a tough decision but I think I made the right one.

I didn't like Jamaal Charles - Kansas City plays the big boys schedule this year because they came in first place.  Cassel only threw above 60% when he was in New England with Josh McDaniels.  Steve Breaston is an alright #2, but coverages will be rolled onto Dwayne Bowe with 8 in the box for the run.  Breaston isn't winning football games for anyone and neither is Tony Moaeki at tight end, especially with Cassel at QB and a new offensive coordinator.

Ray Rice now gets to run behind Bryant McKinnie (fat, but great run blocker for Adrian Peterson), Marshal Yanda, Andre Gurode, Michael Oher, the Ravens' other guard is also highly touted, and Vonta Leach (considered one of the best blocking FBs in the league), with Lee Evans and Anquan Boldin helping to spread the field

I just took Ray Rice #4 in my draft over Andre&Calvin Johnsons and LeSean McCoy.

I think he'll make up for last year's mediocre TD performance with a great year in Baltimore's shiny new offense.  I also took Lee Evans in that league for those same reasons (run game setting up the pass)

On your My Team page I believe. You should also receive a notification e-mail of all teams transactions. Anyway, you don't have to approve, you can only reject.

I LOVE Tolbert....He is BJGE in SD (except built like a bowling ball). I made sure i snagged him in my $$$ league. I have $300 bet w/one of my buddies that Tolbert has 11+ TD's...It's looking like he's the starter in week 1...

Re: Pats Sunday Bunch - - - Fantasy Football rosters

    Outside looking in:

I like McGee's team best. I think Freeman will be a Top 5 fantasy QB, but those 3 RBs separate it for me. Having Plax that far down the bench could be gold.

NEGame is a close second, but I don't believe in Hightower, and with only Tate as a backup, if he doesn't pan out, that could really hurt you. Me, personally, I'd try to thin out those WRs a little for a RB to add depth. Keep a close eye on the Pats, one of the rookies could emerge as the lead back early.

Charles for Rice: Pretty even, I like Rice better. Big time pass catching potential, better team/better offense overall. Both are legit stud RBs though.

Best Backup Award: Kevin Kolb. Stafford has hurt his shoulder in the past 3 or 4 seasons going back to college. I think he's played in 19 of 32 pro games. I just don't think his shoulder can stay healthy for a whole season, but when he plays, the talent is undeniable. Being sure to grab Kolb as a very high ceiling backup was a smart move. He could be a Top 10 QB by season's end regardless.

Most Overrated on Draft Day: And it pains me to say this, BJGE. No way he repeats last years performance. He was the 4th RB on the depth chart, then Maroney got dealt, Morris got hurt, and Faulk got hurt. They added 2 good looking RBs who WILL see the ball, then there's Woodhead still around. Even if he averages the same 4.5ish YPC, I don't see enough touches for him to get to 1,000 without people getting injured again. I also see him easily sliding back down the depth chart if the kids show anything on the field when it matters.

Just my take, but I do have 10+ years doing this, and have landed on the top of some very competitive, pay-out leagues. I'm a stats geek, and I've long loved this sh!t when people used to make fun of fantasy players as losers living in their mother's basements...how times, and opinions have changed!

As a side note, through my years of playing both fantasy baseball and football, it has greatly increased my knowledge about the game. How many Non-fantasy, east coast football fans really know who someone like Mike Tolbert is?

begging not allowed--just kidding-I have Charles in my ESPN league, and i'm nervous about him but Cassel is hurt so that could change things. I wonder if I could get someone to bite on a trade.

IMO, Hightower is in for a big year. Good receiver out of the backfield and will probably catch alot and Shanahan is great with RB's. He won the starting gig and Shanahan has been impressed with him all of training camp and pre season. As long as he can hold onto the ball, I see him as one of the top sleepers this year
