    In response to Harvey-Wallbanger's comment:

This guy was rumored to be coming to NE back in the supplemental draft in 2007.  Instead, SD took him.

It's sad to see anyone do such a thing.  I've worked suicide hotlines, in the past, and have talked with people who have found themselves at that point.  It's like they're caught in a hole that they just don't feel they can escape from.  It's just tragic and he was so young too.

Wow, not sure I could handle working a hotline - kudos to you! It's incredibly tragic when someone feels they have no other option!

Three responses to what you are saying...

    1. Often, they think nothing can help them... not even those hotlines. It's rare that they ask for help. Help has to come to them.

    2. Unfortunately, in most cases, people around them are not equipped to recognize the situation. Unless it's a person really really close to you (a close relative or a close friend), it's easier to avoid the person. Everyone has their own reasons to be down. It's natural to avoid people you know will ruin your day's emotional state.

    3. Even if people around them do recognize the situation, these people who can help, don't know how, and don't know who to reach out to for help.

Insightful. We should all take note and be aware of the people in our lives exhibiting these traits!
