Percy Harvin traded to the Seahawks

     From ESPN.com:

The Minnesota Vikings have agreed to trade wide receiver Percy Harvin to the Seattle Seahawks, a source confirmed to ESPN.com's John Clayton.

In return, the Vikings will receive undisclosed draft picks. The trade agreement, contingent on Harvin passing a physical, was earlier reported by Fox Sports.

Seattle has a connection to Harvin. The team's offensive coordinator, Darrell Bevell, held the same job with Minnesota when the Vikings drafted Harvin in 2009.

Last month at the scouting combine, Vikings general manager Rick Spielman insisted he had no intent to deal the receiver, who he called a "dynamic playmaker," and said he wouldn't even take phone calls about a trade.

Harvin, who is entering the final year of his rookie contract, badly sprained his left ankle on Nov. 4 at Seattle last season and didn't play again. The Vikings placed him on season-ending injured reserve a month later.

Harvin made waves last summer when he expressed unhappiness with the organization and requested a trade. By the time training camp arrived, he had simmered down. He went home to Florida for his rehabilitation after he was placed on injured reserve, but coach Leslie Frazier downplayed his absence, noting that others have chosen to do the same.

He started last season playing like a Most Valuable Player award candidate, leading the league in total yards (receiving, rushing and returning) through nine games in 2012 until he was hurt.

Harvin still led the team in receptions (62) and yards receiving (677) despite playing barely half of a season, and he had a kickoff return for a touchdown as well as 96 yards rushing and one score on the ground.

The 24-year-old Harvin has 7,168 all-purpose yards in his four-season career with 29 touchdowns (20 receiving, five return, four rushing). He also has 280 receptions in 54 career games.

Wow, Harvin is only 24!?!??!  I dont know what they gave up but its a good move for them. S.Rice is not that fast and getting up there. Harvin will be a nice toy for the young signal caller and provide a new weapon to implement and go along with their bruising run game.

The coming SF -Seahawk rivalry will be very interesting, and reminds me of the old SF-Oakland rivalry and the more recent NE-Indy rivalry.

    Rice is 26.

Add in Tate and Baldwin and that's a lot of young talent at WR, with Harvin obviously the best of the group.

Could be interesting in the NFC West, but I still think SF (and their boatload of draft picks) is the frontrunner.

Gives the Seahawks another pass rusher and they're easily the most complete team in the NFL

SF and SEA, IMO, are the two most complete teams in the league.

Difference is experience level, SEA is pretty young...and you could kind of tell just from looking at their road record...

That being said, I thought R. Wilson showed tremendous growth this season, and I think he's a better pocket passer than Kaepernick...

Really like SEA this season. R. Wilson pretty much threw to just scrubs this season, he has a legit weapon now.

deal is contingent on him signing a deal. The teams have 48 hours to nengotiate. Trade was for Seattles 1st round pick this year. A STEAL for the 'Hawks!

I was just thinking they now have not only a lot of talent but also a lot of egos on that team.  Not sure but from what I've seen Seattle has about $17 m in cap space.  Is that enough?

While I have no specific name in mind, the Pats need to keep up with the elite teams in the league in building for now and for the future.

This proves you don't need to be smart as a GM in the NFL. Seattle just got robbbed.

They gave up their 1st and 7th this year and a mid rd next.....

For a guy that fights with Coaches...

    Misses games with headaches....

Complained loudly about wanting out of MN....

Demanding to be the highest paid rec in the NFL.....

Who ever OK'ed this trade in Seattle will rue this day....

Oh....but Mallett is still worth nothing......

Doesnt always work but I wouldnt be mad as a fan for upgrading a position that is needed. Teams wont be able to crowd the line as much for Marshawn with him in there and if they win the whole thing, I dont think anyone will miss those pics. With a sure fire QB(Brady) who gives you 4000k and 30 TD and 8 INTS almost automatically year to year, I would like to see the Pats use the same agression with certain positions instead of bombing out at Building #19 every year. Not to say you have to make that splash but c'mon, you bring in Gregory last year?? and the year before, you released Sanders, Meri , Tank and Page to go into the season with Josh (Ive never played in the NFL) Barret and he goes down within a month! Season Over!

We have to do better! We go into free agency like its an afterthought instead of taking advantage of the Brady years...

Got no problem with Seattle giving him a shot. It's simply too much compensation for a player that had MN against the wall, way too much.........

I dont disagree. Just hard for me to say and guage how much a team is willing to part with for a Title. If they believe he helps them get over the hump, than thats their opinion.  Im not disagreeing but what is the price of a Title? and if a GM knew a certain move would give him a better chance, would he do it?  Im sure every team is different, and I dont want us to be the Redskins by any stretch but I just would have liked them to do better work in free agency the last few years. I thought Ocho and Haynesworth were horrible signings at the time and they both came to fruition of being busts!

Ocho and Haynsworth were 4th and 5th rd picks I believe?

Harvin is only under contract this year. Unless there has been some extention then a 1st, 7th and 3rd/4th next is too much IMHO. Plus factor in the amount of time his headaches take him out of games.

With the rookie salary cap first rounders are gold, treat them as such. Harvin was worth a 3rd and no more in my opinion.....but then again I formulate adhesives for a living.

SEA gm is one of the best. Good at his recent picks (Sherman, Browner, Chancellor, Thomas, Wilson, Wagner, etc)

good FA signings and a damn good Lynch trade

In the past 9 years, the 'Hawks have only had 2 top 10 picks and 2 other top 20 picks.  They're hardly a perennial loser.

Now that Boldin was traded to SF for a 6th ronder, maybe the Seahawk did get rob. But if Boldin is getting a 6th rounder in return, Mallet will not be getting the Pats much of anything.

The Boldin trade has nothing whatsoever to do with Mallet or any other player in the NFL.  The Ravens wanted to cut his contract, but didn't want him going to an AFC contender.  Thus, they took token compensation to assure he plays in the NFC.
