Dude, we don't need another WR under 6'0. The day of the hobbit WRs in NE are over. We need find WRs like Atlanta has

One thing about Harvin's migraines...he really didn't miss any games due to them.  I'm intrigued for sure...he's a physical receiver and can be very good...however kanas brings up a good point.  As much as I love Branch, Harvin would be a fantastic upgrade for that second/third (number depends on personnel grouping of course! :D)

Harvin is a slot guy though.  Pats need that number 1 guy.  He's a play maker for sure but we have a poor mans version in Edleman who is also a great punt returner.  Assuming we keep Edleman on the cheap that is... But I am not sure he is the fix for the WR corps.

Harvin maybe a slot WR, but dude is more Victor Cruz and less Wes Welker. Percy can go deep and handles press coverage with the best of them.

Harvin is only 24 - turns 25 in May.

I expect that BB wants him.  he's a BB type of player and just because fans want a big WR, well that won't influence BB.

Not that Welker isn't a playmaker, it's just the fact that Harvin is Welker...but with speed and that takes a safety out of the box and gives Ridley more room to run. Welker is too darn slow, too short and, since he was known for reliable hands, now he's not even a sure bet to make a catch anymore.

Harvin would be like Troy Brown...on steroids.

KR/PR and WR. Also lines up in the backfield.

Here's the deal though, you'd have to get rid of Demps, because there's no point in having a guy as a KR/PR specialist when Harvin is already a great one. You also wouldn't get to maximize the versatility of Harvin, Vereen and Hernandez because they all line up in relatively similar positions. In other words, you'd be trading Harvin soley on his receiving ability.

Harvin isn't bad, but I would assume you could fetch a better outside WR for whatever the Vikings will get for Harvin (2nd?)

I'd send them Welker and a 4th this year, hope the Vikings are dumb enough to take it.

Also, you keep Harvin fresh and off KRs and RB. His primary job is WR, everything else is secondary.

yeah and vikings needs a WR like welker to Ponder's development, they should draft a WR in the draft, take welker and the 4th and give harvin to us.

I think 49Patriots was being sarcastic. Only way you can trade Welker is if you tag him. Highly unlikely the Pats will do that. Vikes can pull out of the trade and make the Pats hold onto Welker with the tag number. Doesnt make much sense

Cruz intimedates DBs and coaches, Welker does not. Welker also runs "hand-off" routes, it's near impossible for Brady to not get the ball in his hands.

I dunno, BB was very much afraid of Victor Cruz in the SB. I've never heard a coach yell "We've got to stop Welker" before, heck, DCs don't even respect him. Wade Philips echoed what I'm sure NFL DCs think of him.

When Pagano was with the Ravens on Welker:
“We’ve got to, No. 1, identify where he’s at and what the situation is,” Pagano said. “Like I said, Brady has got a certain comfort zone with him.”

    Tarell Brown with some interviewer:

ME: How do you stop their offense?

BROWN: Stop Tom Brady and stop Wes Welker and the guys that make plays after the catch. They get so many yards after the catch, it’s amazing. For us, we have to be sure tacklers this week. We need to focus, break down, and more than one guy needs to get there and swarm the football.

    Jason Garrett on Welker:

"He's just a very difficult guy to cover," Garrett said. "He has a variety of routes that he runs. He's very reliable. He's very quarterback friendly."

    Jets on Welker:

When Wilson was drafted, one of the first things the Jets coaches handed him was a cut-up highlight reel of Welker, basically saying: "Study up, kid."

You can say Cruz is better than Welker, but Welker has been the focal point of the Patriots offense since 2007. For the better part of those 6 seasons, Welker was the main priority for defenses to stop. Stop Welker and you disrupt Brady's rhythm. Gronk has come along in the last two years, but I think it's a bit foolish to say DC's don't respect Welker.
