Sounds like he had good potential and really came on in 2011/2012 and then was riddled by injuries. In 2013, they drafted Frederick who they started ahead of him.

Definitely better than Wendell, could be a good center in this league.

I just looked him up he played 6 games and only started 3 in the last two years. How is he better than Wendell who actually plays 16 games a year?

I always knew you were a pink hat who joined our fanbase late.

It's even more comical that you can't figure out how bad Brady has been in postseasons as you watched it live right in front of your eyes.

When healthy, he was clearly a strong player. No reason he couldn't start here and be an immediate upgrade over Wendell.

"The Dallas Cowboys have issues on the offensive line, but center Phil Costa will have a chance to help solve those problems.

The team announced Saturday that Costa has signed a two-year contract. As a restricted free agent, he would have netted $1.323 million this season, so the deal allows Dallas to craft a more cap-friendly arrangement.

Offseason Forecast: Cowboys Around The League examines what's next for all 32 NFL teams 2013. Dan Hanzus breaks down the CowboysMore ...

The news was first reported by ESPNDallas.com

"I can see going with Costa at center for several years,"Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said at last week's NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.

Costa, 25, barely played last season after back pain and a dislocated ankle limited him to three starts. He made every start for the Cowboys in 2011, and the offense definitely is a better unit when he's playing.

When Costa played against the Baltimore Ravens in October, the Cowboys rumbled for 227 yards (the most the Ravens have ever allowed on the ground) and was graded out as the Cowboys' best lineman on the field.

Losing him for the season one week later was a significant loss for the Cowboys, but he's now locked down through 2014."

Didn't we not just go through a season of injury problems esp on the OL and you think adding a player who could only play 6 games in two years with back problems won't be an issue?

Actually it was especially on the DL not the OL.

Brady blew his knee out and missed all but six minutes of the season, don't you think it is risky depending on him to play for an entire season?

Have considered our Oline as our Achilles heel Against top tier DsI don't want another undersized guy that probably be no better than Wendell. only Mach may fill the bill? Other than that we have Connolly to center, Cannon to RG and hope our tackles come back at a hi level.

I wish I had an answer for Mankins, maybe one of these years he will play well in the last playoff game of the season,

Well maybe if we win another SB The guns will come off here on TB and BB

    NOT! Lol

He's cheap and still young. He had a career game against the Ravens. Costa played between substandard guards when he was healthy.

Hey, when you're not committed to FA, you have to make sure of two things:

    1.) Draft very well.

2.) Successfully mine diamonds in the rough. Costa seems to qualify. If he passes a physical, he deserves a shot.

Bottom Line: After the poor season Wendell had in 2013, finding an upgrade on the cheap shouldn't be hard.
