    PINK

i just want to tip my hat to all the athletes who for one weekend out of the season harmlessly wear the color pink in some form to honor further awareness of the terrible sickness that many of our wives, daughters, mothers and even the men in some cases, are struck by.  although this is considered a man's sport, women make up a large part of the fan base and are emplyed in key positions throughout every franchise on some level.  if wearing this color for a game helps the cause at all, why on earth shouldn't they do it.  salutations gentlemen.

LOL, I knew a thread would be created on this.  I just knew it.  Great cause, but I still think its funny watching football players wear pink.  I guess they may do so in the game too?

Gotta go.  Watching an old taping of "The Man Show" lol.

It's kind of strange to see football players wearing pink. It's a good cause but leave the uniforms alone. The NFL organisation and players provide tremendous support to many good causes and charities but changing the uniforms to advertise a specific cause is bit too much.

This doesn't bother me. The green stripes on some of the Seahawks shoes is pretty ugly though. Maybe they are promoting vomit awareness.

Edit: I didn't actually see the picks before I posted. I guess someone else think those things are vile. At least the Philly unis are throwbacks.

    kansas and ALL:

~Famed Psychologist Carl Gustav Jung believed that for any person to trully be complete, They have to have a sort of entertwined marriage, between the Animus, the female side within a man, and the Anima, the male side within a female... We still reside in a very male-oriented society in the West, However, This belief is and has been, pervasive throughout cultures and historic societies world wide since the dawn of time, The ying-yang, (which most people solely attribute to a part of good in evil, and evil in good), touches upon this, Hinduism (I forget the phrase "Siva shakti shakta" "Male without the female is dead")...Whether it be the emotional side (female) of oneself melded with the physical side (male), or the Spirit (Male) conjoined with Matter (Female)-(see birth goddesses in the Eastern philosophies/Gnosticism)...

It's sad that we are still very wary of this in the West (and on a football forum), and most of us still have a long way to go spiritually for completeness... In the end, ya gotta respect the guys who are mature and enlightened enough to do this once a year (once a year is good enough, 2 X a year is pushing it even for me)...

I'm bigger than most, but still nowhere near being in the 6 and a half foot range in height and weighing around 300 lbs... IF one actually has the size of an NFL linebacker, I agree, One can afford to be spiritually complete without people messing with you... And I agree again, That I wouldn't be caught dead wearing pink as well, and therefore must stick to Intellectual Ideals wihout myself having the b%lls to weigh the axiom on the pulse in reality

of note:  Also, Pink is an ugly-#ss color as it is, and Who-The-H wears arm-bands/ribbons in this day and age, the Vietnam War has ended, and so now you're just looking for ANYthing to protest...

Hey Laz, I generally like your posts and I like what you are saying above, but in the concept is "yin-yang" or "yin and yang", not ying. It is on my great and large list of things I don't like seeing misrepresented.

Man, I even "Googled" it because I was unsure, and it came down with "Ying Yang Twins" and "Yuengling Beer", So I said to myself, "Laz, There's no way you can go wrong on this one buddy...", ahhh Yin-Yang, well, I don't cr#p about the Irish anyway (except that all the food you buy/pick/slaughter that day, goes in a pot for 12 hours, and then that's called "Dinner"; and THAT it takes suprisingly few drops of dye to turn a gallon or two of beer, green; and Finally, that the rap group, "House of Pain" had "...more rhymes den 'dis bottle's gaht zorbs"...(whatever a "zorb" is...They only had 1 hit-song))...

of note:  1 more thing Enochroot, All: Did you know that, The Ancient Celts used to paint themselves in tribal stripes, and then run into battle completely naked...Their Island (up to Hadrians Wall) got invaded, conquered and assimilated by The Romans who used varying types of leather, scale and chain armour...which, as it turns, is better protection from sharp metal than blue paint...(just sayin' is all)...

I have no problem with the players wearing a little pink, it's for a good cause. I am a man and wear pink at my job this month, and have no problem doing so because I am secure in my manliness.

How does someone discover if they are secure with their manliness or not? I personally never thought about it.I just assumed I was always going to be a man by what the good Lord blessed me with.I asked a bunch of guys I work with how secure they felt about their manliness, apparently they never thought about it either. The conversation soon turned to various recipes for bacon.

Easy There! I was joking.LOL. All these guys claiming that "I'm secure with my manhood because I wear pink" should ask themselves why they need to proclaim to the world how manly they are.Maybe they're not as secure as they think.IMO guys in pink look silly, then again guys with red pants look silly too. It's not really a question of manhood.

    cow and ALL:

I know...I'm sorry... Anytime anyone offers a John Tomase photo and within the same sentence says "...makes you hot," One should tread very lightly.  But oddly enough, that alone doesn't make "insecure" in your manhood, For it was to be coupled by the following 3 preconditions: 1) Pornstar Rebecca Lord is not ridiculously hot to you;  2) You'd much rather have an ultra-light menthol 100 cigarette than a La Floria Dominicana maduro cigar in a torpedo-roll that's been aged 5 years;  and finally 3) Professional Soccer=Better than the NFL (non-U.S. citizens can void this last one)...

~You know I've been kiddin' too cow...  I think You pretty much said all there needed to be said (pretty much better than any response in this thread)-with your bacon-recipe story which I lmao to...I guess ya just know is all.  That said, I guess There's nothing wrong with it, annnnd I don't know if I'm "secure" enough to breach this subject any further lol...good god, It's been a slow football news day (which reminds me of a new precondition of being "insecure in your manhood": #4) Your NOT hopelessly jealous of any coach, trainer, or whatever involved in Football under some professional capacity that can say to their wife after sitting on the couch watching College Football all Saturday long, "Hey, Leave me alone...I'm doing WORK here!"

It's been fun goofing around about this stuff. On a serious note,If these people really want to get the message out they should advertise on their pink shirts a respectable breast cancer website where women might get some useful information like screening locations and risk factors ect. I'm sure most people are "aware" that breast cancer exists.Knowing how to identify and treat it is the way to save lives. If the NFL really cares they should put the name of the website or telephone info line up at the top of the TV  screen during this weeks games.
