    Re: POOR MINNESOTA

The Vikings are well and truly fukced at quarterback. T-Jack is not now, and is never going to be an adequate NFL quarterback, and Joe Webb is a receiver. The quarterback of the future is not on the Vikings right now, so they'll probably have to go QB in the first round on a team that desperately needs help in the trenches and in the defensive secondary. And to top it all off -- as Pats fan knows all to well -- they flushed a valuable third-round pick down the shitter in the Randy Moss fiasco.

The Vikings are going to be bad for a long time.

I have a feeling they will trade for Kevin Kolb in the offseason. Just a hunch.

Soon you'll be saying poor LA. Somehow I don't see a state thats running an anual debt of billions a year asking the taxpayers to build a stadium for a millionaire. As much as some people like to attack Kraft he paid for his own stadium.

Actually, there's been a lot of talk about this locally. Vick is the pipe dream, but there's no way Philly is going to let him get away now. Frankly, I never understood the attraction with Kolb, but you're probably better off going with a middling guy with some experience than a crapshoot guy in the draft.

Of course, there's no way of knowing, at this point, who is even going to be steering the ship next year, but Chilly really took an axe to this team.

Well, they placed their bet on Brett, and they went straight down the tubes with him.  Hey, it's not like Dan Snyder hasn't given them YEARS of anecdotal evidence that their approach wouldn't work.  Free agents may start to avoid the place now, with the issues on the team AND the stadium issues.  It's really an epic meltdown.  Jet-like in many ways.  All in all he took what, 12 million from the Jets, and at least 32 million from the Vikings?  And got ONE good season out of it, ending up by throwing the Superbowl chance away for them.  Nice deal for him.

interesting thought... not a bad idea... however, as great as he is playing, i dont know how vick and kolb fit in philly. i DO think that the vikes are far better off getting someone with NFL experience and using their draft picks for desperately needed line and secondary help.

I agree, the Vikings are moving to Los Angeles.  Its seems inevitable.

I agree that the Vikings are moving to LA.  The NFL desparately needs the market and finally has a stadium deal in place outside LA.  Ironically, 20 minutes from where I used to live for a few years.  I could've gotten easy tickets those LA casual fans!!

I have spoken to a former Vikings player that I have daily interactions with and he stated that if they can get a stadium deal done they will move to L.A.  He seemed to have some very good insider knowledge as to how the negotiations were proceeding.

Calf is in even worse finacial shape than Minn but the people out there are more likely to donate millions to a millionaire.  The days of cities and states propping up rich sports team owners is over.

don't underestimate joe webb. He was a guy i really wanted in the draft. He is a QB who rushed and threw for 10k+ yards and has the speed like endelman.

    Re: POOR MINNESOTA

The relocation of the Vikings is not as far-fetched as it once seemed.

Vikings fan seems certain that the roof collapse at the Metrodump will engender support for public funding for a new stadium that has not been forthcoming. The state is currently running a $6 Billion deficit and building a fancy new playground for a billionaire from New Jersey is not high on the legislature's list of priorities. There are plans floating around to raise the money through gambling -- slot machines at the horse track and Vikings-specific scratch-offs -- but the Native American tribes will  . . .

are you ready for this TexasPat?

. . .  go on the warpath if that happens.  Undecided

The largely Democractic state congress that has been in bed with the indian casinos for years was ushered out in the last election, so we shall see what we shall see about the Racino idea and the lottery, but my thinking is that Zygi Wilf is going to have to come across with more than the $250 million (of an estimated $850 million) he has pledged to get this thing moving.

People like to point out that Robert Kraft leveraged his own assets to build Gillette Stadium, and he is certainly to be lauded for that. What a lot of people don't mention -- apart from the vastly different economic climate 10 years ago -- is that the league itself loaned Kraft . . .  I want to say $75 million, but you could Google it, and there were a couple other owners who took advantage of the league's largesse for new stadiums. Denver? Philadelphia? I'm not sure. That is an option that is not availabe to Zygi, which is not to mention that the number Zygi is talking about being willing to float was about half of what Kraft borrowed to build Gillette.
