JAGS going heavy in UDFA, kinda surprising really considering how much under the cap they are. I'd figure they try to fill their roster with 1 yr big contracts on low to mid tier players and some top talent

Re: primary target for day 1 of URFA

I think everyone is more or less on the same page here. OLB , OL , WR are all big priorities. Im always nervous when it comes to signing OLB , draft , trade , fa etc. such a hit or miss position. I remember 2 years ago when everyone on this board was screaming that we take Jerry Hughes or whoever in that draft. I really didnt like anyone at OLB coming out of that draft and am very glad we didnt go bust there. That said this team just cant go through the motions at that spot anymore. Its time we bring in someone that other teams have to game plan for. It would be an absolute shame if we had a healthy TY , Bodden and rest of starting D back with no pass rush to go with it. We have some true studs playing on that side of the ball , 'Fork , Mayo , Ty , Spikes , Bodden and DMC would all benifit greatly from someone flying off the edge with purpose. I know nobody wants to hear this but if we can trade for Thomas , why cant we trade for a more proven , feared OLB? Hes a 26 y/o every down backer' who would add some much needed toughness to our D. Good thing for us there are better FA WR's out there.

Well I wouldn't mind trading Butler for English straight up. I think Ras and Arrington with the addition of Bodden from injury makes Butler expendable for the right trade. English was a highly touted pass rusher coming out of college that hasn't lived up to expectation. A change of scenery on both ends could do both well. Butler is 5th on the cb depth chart imo and English would come in just below Moore or Nin so it's really like trading struggling players with high potential. Though Butler still might turn into a top knock CB if Ras develops into what they hope he becomes Butler won't become anything higher then a slot CB on this team

Re: primary target for day 1 of URFA

First, thanx Charleston...I'd always given that particular NEPatsDraft site an after-thought, during research on prospects, but it's just key with these updates on UDFA's right now...

And digger...NICEeee catch and updates on Herzlich.  You guys know on Day 1, I was a loud outspoken proponent on BB's '10 Draft Class...Likewise, I've been JUST as loud an opponent on many of the ways he went about this '11 Class, And nabbing some CB in Rd #7 who was decent on special Teams, but who didn't even start on D for his collegiate team, and who "maybe" take over Matthew Slater's ST'er role, or just provide some competition, RATHER than just takin' a measley 7th Rd flier on a guy who was Rd 1 talent in Herzlich prior to his cancer, and at an every and current positional need, And a guy who started to show his previous flashes of excellent talent again, as his final Senior year at BC wore on...  Imho, there's just no excuse for that...sorry BB.  1 7th rder?!?

Anyway...haven't yet reglanced at the updated list I just cut & pasted above...but some name's to consider (imo):

    OT/OG
    Zach Hurd UConn OG/OT 6'7 325lbs
Derek Hall Stanford OT 6'5 300lbs
David Mimms Virginia Union OT 6'8 331lbs
Willie Smith East Carolina OT 6'5 290lbs

and RE: OC's...there were some pretty darn decent guys who went as UDFA's
Jake Kirkpatrick TCU OC 6'2 301lbs <saw his name as signed />
Zane Taylor Utah OC 6'2 309lbs
Chase Beeler Stanford OC 6'3 285lbs (very light)
Alex Linnenkohl Oregon St OC 6'2 304lbs

    3-4 LB <Herzlich, a given />
Thomas Keiser Stanford OLB 6'3 261lbs
    Ugo Chinasa Oklah St DE/OLB 6'5 256lbs
    Pierre Allen Nebraska DE/OLB 6'4 264lbs
Alex Wujciak Maryland MLB <SILB comp. b/c Spikes is just critical /> 6'3 247lbs
<saw Ryan Winterswyk as already signed />
TE (I've been sayin' it's more impt for NE's 2 TE successes to secure a back-up for Hernandez's spot)
Cameron Graham Louisville TE 6'4 253lbs
Preston Dial Alabama TE 6'3 237lbs
Charlie Gannt Mich St TE 6'4 255lbs

Dane Sanzenbacher Ohio St WR 5'11 182lbs
Ricardo Lockett Ft Valley St WR 6'2 211lbs (ehh?)
<wish we had room for a slot wr />: Jock Sanders WV 5'6 181lbs
<left out: Terrance Toliver LSU WR 6'5 203lbs...not simply issues w/ drops, but an (imo)-Everyone talks desperately RE: "a deep threat", but Pats & Brady's best successes (i.e. SB wins), came when NE didn't HAVE or use this type of 1 dimensional longball wideout...ya need the threat here & there, but'cha give up alot when putting a guy on the field, who can only BE a deep-threat />

    3-4 DE
Brandon Bair Oregon DE 6'7 272lbs (more weight)
Cedric Thornton Southern Arkns DT 6'4 299lbs

Re: primary target for day 1 of URFA

Dear Browns, Lions & Chargers... Since you fellas seem to make it a habit of always being next-to-last on the field trip bus, And considering we seemingly never have enough front-office supervision when you get into trouble, and it doesn't matter b/c your parents don't seem to care anyways, We're forced to assign you a chaperone to watch over you from now on.

Dear Redskins & Chiefs...  Look, I don't care WHO said What to you, or WHO beat you up, because finding solace in lighting stuff on fire isn't gonna solve a d#mn thing.  Noooo, we do not allow matches OR lighters on the bus, so you're gonna have ta find a better way to make friends and contact undrafted free agents, than with pyromania & smoke signals.

Dear Raiders...  Look! I'm speaking to YOU!  You're- what? No, no, NO! That's Timmy's lunchbox, Not YOURS!  Loo- Hey! Why in god's name, are you stripping down to your underwear, and screaming, "Jelly beans- Jell-ey Be-aaans!"  Just stay still for 1 second and I ca- STOP hitting yourself in the head with your shoe!  Uggh...first thing back, I'm sendin' you to special ed...

Dear Cincinnati...  I saw what you DID!  But, I let it go... But then I saw what you did after THAT! Where did you even-  How?  And why?  They didn't do anything to you?!?  Look, what is this gonna be, your 6th arrest since the start of the school year?  You're o.k. & all cinci, but sheez!: Noone wants to be your friend, b/c they all KNOW what happened to your last friends.  You scare me...So Capt O'Malley'll break the charges down for you better, he's waitin' for you by the curb.

Dear NY (Jets)...  You're poor, and everyone knows it.  And man, I HATE to even SAY that, But good grief guy!  I asked you guys like 3 months ago in the middle of Winter, to simply remember to save 37 cents for milk and free agent money, come the spring sign-up for this field trip...  And I KNEW this was gonna occur with you, Which is WHY I reminded you every single freaking DAY, from then, until right this morning...  Honestly!  It's like, EVERY single Time, you get ANY money, you just run to the nearest vending machine, Or you swallow it, or laugh as you roll it down the schoolyard water drain, or however else you just instantly p!ss it away; Sh-EEZ!  You HAD $2.67 cents this very Morning!!!  Oh- oh...great, you '-used most of it on the school copy machine,' To? '-photo-copy your 2 hands so you could compare them later on'...nice. Annnd?  You- 'stuck- some- up your nose.'  Good, very, very good...And so the rest?  'Up- MY- nose- with a rubberhose'...that- that's great (sigh)....(underbreath) mmm, lucky your dad plays golf with the principal...

I was really hoping to get Mayo's little bro. I thought at worst signing him might help with negotiations resigning Jerod next year

Bronco's grabbed him Nate. I'm sure that the Pats made him an offer but he most likely didn't want to play in his brothers shadow and decided to go to another team.

I'm surprised they haven't tried to get one of the bigger name C's in the UDFA. With Koppen a year from retiring basically, I don't see anyone on the current roster or PS who could come in next year and take over Koppen spot. Would be nice to just to see if they could find gold again with some of those C's

Well Kirkpatrick, O'Dwod, Barnes and Linnenkohl were towards the top of my C list for UDFA's but they are gone.

Zane Taylor is still available. I was high on the kid and thought he'd be a late round UDFA type of prospect. He has the size and ability but needs to be coached up a bit. I would love to see them bring him in and see what he can do. Past that I think the C position has been pretty well picked clean

Re: primary target for day 1 of URFA

King has lost his mind with Ronnie Brown, unless they aren't planning on resigning BJGE.

Roth seems to be linked everywhere to the Pats which scares me since I really want him

Not sure where Melvin Bullitt would fit unless they plan to release Sanders for cap room. But Bullitt doesn't seem much better the McGowan, Page, or Brown and I think the Pats only keep 2 of those 3. Though Bullitt might be another prove it 1 yr cheap deal if they think they won't be able to resign 2 out 3 of their S's
