All NFL games are important, especially at this time of year when playoff spots are not clinched.  As for this being the Pats SB, well, this is in the minds of the fans who are mighty nervous about this team.  I'm glad the team doesn't act like the fan base.
This is not just another NFL game like "all NFL games".   What you are interpreting as nervousness is closer to a resolve that there is no f'n tomorrow so to speak.

Lose this game and you are a limping stumbling question filled team going in the wrong direction to loserville.   Seriously.  there is no option but to treat this game like it is your last.
I can see that, and as a fan of the team, I can see how this game is treated as sort of a SB.  Win and you are in, lose, and, depending on how the other teams fare, next week is even worse.  Let's root for Buffalo, right?

Another thought about how important this game is:

Win this one, which is against a potential playoff bound team, and the next against Buffalo, and thses two games are the springboard in getting the Pats to be playing well at the right time, heading into the playoffs.  Isn't that what so many of us want?  To see the Pats be the team that is peaking at playoff time and not someone else.

Agree and good point...   Because right now at this moment who is more likely to embody that momentum of the hot team going into the playoffs ...  right ...  unless you snuff it out.   Seriously this is like a total shift moment.   Either show the balls to put your stamp mark on the lombardi holders forehead or go home and play buffalo the poster child member of the "puff up your record since you are in the AFC East" club.

Perhaps you missed this gem from the previous page, which pairs with my comment that "momentum" is a myth in sport.  It's a cliche spouted by people who want easy narratives.  These are the past 4 Super Bowl winners, and how they finished the regular season:

    2009 Saints - Started 13-0, finished 13-3.

    2010 Packers - Started 8-4, finished 10-6

    2011 Giants - Started 6-2, finished 9-7

    2012 Ravens - Started 9-2, finished 10-6

Getting to the playoffs is the point; once you're in, everybody is 0-0.

You know how we say how other teams play New England and it is their Superbowl...?  Like when patriots played Carolina and that city was all hyped up and it was such a big game for them...?  You know ,  we say it kind of condescendingly and it's true.

Well ...  Ravens won the superbowl last year and knocked out the Patriots (literally).  The way this season is going, and the NE drought of superbowls now approaching a decade...  The Patriots might as well call this their Superbowl.  We'll see if the coaching staff can get these players ready to play and win this game like the huge game that it is.

If they lose this game it is quite close to over...  even though you couldn't officially count them out .

what's like to eat crow. this wasn't the Patriots SB. They are going to the SB

Not really eating crow...  It was a metaphor for preparing like it was your last game (with the side benefit of knocking out the current SB winner as a statement.)  They did it and we can only hope that this kind of performance is what we will see form this team and coaching staff going forward since they're all big from here on out...

In case you were unaware he is actually called Rusty because of this character. He's been Griswold 1,2, 3 heck I can't recall how many times. So it's not really an insult since he was called Griswold back in 2010 or so. Just thought you should know.

You obviously are not a Pats fan. The Pats believe every regular season game is important but only the game played at the superbowl is their superbowl game. Some years they have superbowl games, some years they don't. Pats fans understand this.
