    Ray Rice arrested after altercation

    http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/ravens-insider/bal-ravens-running-back-ray-rice-arrested-after-incident-in-atlantic-city-20140216,0,132362.story?track=rss

When the police showed up, Ray tried to run, but like most of time in the 2013 season, he was stopped at the line of scrimmage with no gain.

Ray Rice wasnt the same runner this year after that weird hip injury he had early on.

He is good and I bet he has a bounce back year. but after seeing his 5yr/35mil contract I think....

WTFF. A running back? that much gtd. for an RB? so risky and dumb. Baltimore handcuffed their team paying an RB so much.

they also gave Horseface himself T-Thugz an extension too.

    Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter 2h

Ravens and Pro-Bowl OLB Terrell Suggs have reached agreeement on a new contract extension, per a source who has learned of the deal.

True - but have you seen our top ten salaries against the cap? We're paying a premium for a lot of outdated and less important positions in a pass-first league.

essentially yes. but atleast Mayo, Wilfork, Mankins are all leaders for us and do more than own the trenches. they bring alot to the table for us.  our RB salaries for all four equal like 2.2 mil (rough est. no research). so we allocate it to other spots

Wow. I wonder if Ed Reed didn't fly in with this "withdrawals" in time?

That might do it for Ray Rice and a cap strapped Baltimore.  They may just turn to Pierce now.

Cap hell can be a real nightmare, right Hurlie?

7/16/2012: Signed a five-year, $35 million contract. The deal contains $24 million guaranteed, including a $15 million signing bonus. Another $5 million is available via an escalator clause based on rushing and receiving stats, and Baltimore's offensive ranking. 2014: $4 million, 2015-2016: $3 million, 2017: Free Agent

Suggs is a force. Other then the tool bag part of him, I personally wouldn't mind him on our D.

Suggs hasn't played well in quite awhile. He did a CAP friendly deal to lower his 2014 CAP number or he was getting whacked.

I'm not sure what constitutes an outdated position? There are positions where the necessary skillset has evolved and changed over the years. The Ronnie Lott head hunting safety has been basically legislated out of existence, as has the kickoff returner, for two examples.

But you still need to fill all 22 positions and you pay big money to great players, whether they play LT, CB, NT or wherever. The one exception might be RB, just because there are an abundance of them. But even there, if you have an AP, McCoy or Jamaal Charles you probably don't want to see him walk.

Still not too effective to me. He was amazing 2011/2012 but since the injury he's old and doesn't get consistent pressure (hint we already have guys like that)

    Bawahahaha!

You know what's funny? I was going to do a post where you blamed this on "salary cap hell" and somehow relate this to doom from over spending, but you actually did it all on your own!! I love it! You are now doing my work for me! Who said you can't get a job? You just found one, you work for me now. We probably should of negotiated terms of your employment first...I don't want to put myself into "salary cap hell". How about something like, I don't know? Maybe 2 dollars for every 300 posts? That sound fair? But I still want to do my post (just for old times sake). Here it goes..

My Lord! Don't the Ravens realize they are in salary cap hell?! When they signed Ray Rice to his new deal at the age of 25 the warnings were out people!! Yeah they won a Super Bowl in the process and Ray played a big roll in that, but still.  I mean clearly we all could see that he'd get drunk in Atlantic City and he and his girlfriend would get into an argument and slap eachother...then run....then get caught.

I bet there's more to this, I bet Ray secretly has himself a  flophouse and will be taking out known associates one by one. The warnings were out people! See this is what happens when you spend to the cap and win Super Bowls! This is what happens when you make that effort to win...your running back gets into an embarrassing slapping incident with his girlfriend at a casino. It will be worse next week when authorities pull his surveillance cameras at his house and find that he has been stashing his murder weapons, that's when this whole "salary cap hell" stuff I've been warning about for years will really really show up!

I've been warning everyone for years, but no one would listen, salary cap hell is alive and well folks...you all are witnesses.

How could they do this?!?!?! Rusty tells me they are in the very scary "salary cap hell"!! This doesn't seem right, and you know what? I just checked on the Raven's available salary cap space...they are almost 12 million UNDER the cap BEFORE redoing Suggs deal (which will put them even more under the cap)...weird.

So let me get this straight, the ravens win a Super Bowl a year ago and now are in a better salary cap position than we are? I thought they were in "salary cap hell"? This is a funny puzzler....very confusing.

Terrel Suggs got a  huge exension. it helps their cap this year but 4 years from now he's gonna be 35 washed up totally and making bankkk.

16 mil gtd.? thats it right? insanity

A strong GM would have just let his 2009 6 year deal just play out. Instead, you have no leverage, need cap space badly just to sign your rookies, and your pipeline is destroyed due to poor recent drafts, which is why he's forced to cave into that.

This is like BB giving Vrabel 16 million guarnteed in 2008 through 2012. LOL!

    [/QUOTE]

yup. good analogy. but even vrabel didnt tear his achilles and come back alot less effective. suggs just isnt the same player, especially not for 16 mil gtd. and 30 mil total over 4 years (correct me if thats wrong..)

BJGE had 0ne of the worst YPC in the league. like 160th or something

i thought BJGE had the worst YPC among RBs but he didnt true was right it is Pierce, thats a testament to how dam nbad the Ravens Oline was.
