Mighty, given the expectations of this team this year, your comments will pretty much fall on deaf ears.   A lot of "glass alf empty" syndrome here.

The team played like crap and still came within one point of beating a very good Seattle team giving us their very best.

This isn't the 2009 team all over again.  More like the 2005 team that started 3-3 but really jelled by playoff time - only this time we won't fumble 5 times in a playoff game.

    [/QUOTE]

    yup.
Make two more plays on defense and play AVERAGE  red zone offense and guess what 20-30 point victory.

The Patriots could not have made such a strange combination of mistakes (coaching, time managment, play execution)  if they played this game over 100 times.

Don't want to take too much away from Seattle who forced some mistakes but really the Pats moved the ball at will and only when they played conservative at the end and in the red zone did they lose a beat.

Everyone in the world knew that Seattle was going to throw it long on the last few series..all they needed to do was tell a safety to stay behind everyone...game won...they will NEVER make that mistake again.

Like I said no way will that many mistakes ever come together at the same time again in a BB coached team. Can anyone here remember a more mistake filled NE game in all facets of the game?

Last year's AFC championship game, last year's SB. The Ravens game this year. The Arizona game this year. Including this game that is 5 of the last eight games.

I am not saying anyone should panic. They have lost three games by something like 4 points. But the have choked in all of those 5 loses. Not just lost the game due to bad play throughout but just plain choked on O and D. Both sides of the ball.

Yes relax. But they need to not just win but they need to be able to take a game in hand late in the game against a good team.

I wouldn't call Seattle a very good team but I agree with the post. Their play has been alarming at times so far but take a lesson from the Giants and get hot at the right time. Its not like going 13-3 or 14-2 has helped much the last few years anyways!

The Pats are still very likely to win the division. And they are likely to go deep into the playoffs.

What concerns the wise fan is this mickey mouse defense not improving enough despite a couple of nifty addition in the front 7 and the complete inability of the running game to do squat when you need them most, thus leaving it to Brady to singlehandedly fashion a miracle when the endgame comes.

Yes, They did have a letdown in all of those games , lucky in the AFC champ. that FG was missed. However, those were dog fights for much of the game and a key letdown (call it a choke ) at the end cost them. A disturbing trend no doubt.

However, This game they really showed the ability to shut down on defense and roll on offense and it took 8-9 really stupid mental errors (spread throughout the game) to lose. One less mental error and they would have won. I count 2 of the long pass plays as not so much skill breakdowns but just mental laspes. Along with the clock mangement, poor playcalls in the red zone, wasted timeouts, have just not seen it to this degree before.

I hope I'm wrong because I agree with everything you're saying just that this time around not sure Brady can muster any miracles.

When the Pats had those leads in the past they would build on them, this season they almost gave it up to the Broncos and fianlly caught up to them against Seattle.

I seem to remember threads with this title in april, may, june, and part of july over on the red sox board.

This weekend is a must win game for the Patriots.  No relax - they need to win this game against the Jets.
