http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/11081437/demaryius-thomas-offered-5-year-contract-extension-denver-broncos

Any guesses on the money he will sign for..? The rumor is its an offer of 5 years

My guess is 5yr/65mil with 30gtd. I think he's worth the money

If I were him, I'd be asking for more money than Decker got, and be paid at least in the top 3 of WR's. Look all the money they gave to other guys in FA, his agent would be stupid not to play hardball.

It's not like they can't afford it. They are actually in a pretty good cap situation moving forward. Additionally the cap is expected to explode in the next couple of years so why not lock him up now at todays prices? Other teams are trying to do the same with their players including the Pats with McCourty. Smart move overall.

Denver is in cap hell and hasn't drafted well for years, the warnings were out people. They also can't attract free agents because they have a lousy GM.--Rusty

not at all, but what exactly could we bet? Leaving the board is a dumb consequence because it will be playoffs once this finishes and neither of us will want to go around January and miss the playoff talk.

I just have a hunch that the Ravens will make the playoffs, like if I bet this with a friend the most I would put on it is $10.

so what kind of bet would you like?

Yes, I mentioned this in the other thread.  It should be interesting to see if he plays hardball based on the bulbous contracts out there like Megatron's, Decker's bloated deal by the dumb JEts, Andre Johnson, Fitzgerald, etc.

Their youth at that position is horrendous, so THomas has the leverage.

I would imagine his approach is contingent on Gomer's future, too.  He would be wise to play out the year and hit FA, holding Elway's feet to the fire. He should have been given this LAST YEAR to cut him off at the pass.

Huge mistake by Elway to wait. It's very similar to what Ozzie did with Flacco. You already knew you wanted to keep him and he's your guy, so why wait?
[object HTMLDivElement]

So is beebee a moron too for waiting on McCourtney?

One can't be a moron without the other.  Will Devin hold beebee's balls to the fire?

Do you know the Pats projected cap hit next year is @148M for the top 51, not counting the 21 FA's. (The highest in the league)  and the Broncs are at  117M?

Umm, BB has already budgeted for McCourty just like he did quietly with Nink last year.  McCourty can't hold BB's balls to the fire because BB has leverage with Harmon, Ryan and Browner. Not an accident.

Just leave the board for a week once the playoffs are over/Pats are out of it.

Start a thread acknowledging you lost the bet, as I will do if I lose.

Times will be tough for Balitmore, you can bank on that. Dallas Clark just retired, Ray Rice will be suspended for 4 games (or should be), and Jim Caldwell leaving Flacco's side can't help.

Add in some brutal drafts in recent years for them and a crappy pipeline with poor salary allocation from Ozzie, and it doesn't look good in that cap hell.
Alright I'll take that bet, sounds good.

So one week gone and then a thread admitting defeat, sounds good.

The only reason I have this hunch is Cincy's defense is getting older and lost their rusher. I also think this is the season Dalton implodes in the regular season instead of postseason.  Steelers D doesn't impress me enough and they don't have a quality #2 behind Antonio Brown.

Even without Rice, I think their offense will be fine. Torrey Smith, Steve Smith, Jacoby Jones, and Pitta isn't bad and Bernard Pierce is a very good RB as well. Defensively they have a solid secondary and I think they can snag a wildcard at 9-7 or even win the division at that mark or 10-6.

    anyways, we've got a deal

Revis isn't going to be a 25 million dollar hit next year so that 148 number is a pointless stat.  There isn't a single free agent other than Revis and DMC that will command any serious money.

Meanwhile the Broncos might be at 117, but they have Welker, both Thomases, Chris Harris, and Knighton as FAs after the season.

Just stating the facts as they are.  You seem to not like facts.

They will either lose Revis and eat 5 M in dead money or extend to where the cap won't be as high but still high.

I don't hate COACH B, but I do dislike  the GM, and have no problem saying that. Nor do I care who disagrees.

I also don't care for any one  who is so drunk on kool-aid, that they can't see straight.

BB waited on McCortney, just like Fox.  He was called a moron.  Fox is in a better cap situation.  I pointed that out.

Some dck stated how stupid Fox was for waiting and how the Broncos were in cap Hell.

Do you agree with that d*ck?.

It's bewildering how a smart fella like yourself could let that slide.

    Have another gulp!
