    Field Yates @FieldYates 1h

Releasing Isaac Sopoaga clears $3.5M in cap space for the Patriots. Team is currently in healthy position from cap standpoint for 2014.

    Albert Breer @AlbertBreer 1h

Patriots came into the day, officially, with $15,790,286 in cap room. They get another $3.5 million with the release of Sopoaga.

Report: Member of Darrelle Revis’ camp certain he’s going to the Patriots

March 12, 2014 By Steve DelVecchio Leave a Comment
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers released Darrelle Revis on Wednesday afternoon, and the speculation continues to build that the All-Pro cornerback could wind up with the New England Patriots. The latest comes from Manish Mehta of the NY Daily News, who spoke with a source from Revis’ camp who seems convinced that the 28-year-old will sign with the Pats.

Member of Darrelle Revis camp chimes in on if he thinks cornerback will end up on Patriots (assuming he's cut). "It's going to happen"  #nyj
    — Manish Mehta (@MMehtaNYDN)  March 12, 2014

CBS Sports.com’s Jason La Canfora also said shortly after Revis was released that he believes he will sign with the Patriots.
There have been reports about the Patriots being interested in Revis since it became clear that the Bucs had no intention of keeping him on their roster. Aqib Talib’s decision to sign with the Denver Broncos on Tuesday intensified those reports, as did another rumor that Revis has told those close to him thathe would love to play for New England.
Granted, Mehta’s source could simply be a friend of Revis’ who is looking to add to the drama. He or she could also be expressing a gut feeling, which wouldn’t mean much.
One thing is for certain — the Patriots would love to sign Revis. The only question is if he is willing to break from his typically staunch business approach and work out a deal that is friendly for both sides. New England is not going to pay Revis anything close to $16 million per season.

Revis will have a lot of suitors: Philadelphia, Cleveland and who knows who else? Why does he want to come to the Pats for less? How will he work in our system anyway? Revis Island is not a concept the Pats employ in their Patriots Way style team approach.

they did with Talib prioir to injury. If they have the talent they actual prefer man but we've had mostly players like Arrington and Butler starting for years so not enough talent for it

Maybe BB finally opens up the wallet? Revis is a little more talented than Talib and has a history of better health (minus his ACL that one year).
