RIP to the great CIVIL RIGHTS pioneer, EDITH BUNKER!

sometimes TV and the media do good. her character was the perfect counterpart to the redneckish tea partyish-howie carrish archie. stood for human rights, womens rights, civil rights.. yet could still find the good in arch and others like him. we need more characters like that. well played by JEAN STAPLETON! boy, where do the times b going?

She was the punching bag for the Archie character and the butt of most of his jokes. Hats off to her if she was an activist in her personal life. Her role on the show an an inept punching bag for her white trash husband isn't anything notable.

One of the classic sit-com roles.  She'll be missed...
