    Re: Roster moves coming?

Is Williams' signing geared to replace Bolden on ST or does it have anything to do with Kenbrell Thompkins' fall from grace (along with release of Collie)?

And will he make his 5th catch in the NFL after spending 3 years in the league?

I don't think laquan Williams is related to any move or decision on thompkins. I think it's tied to maybe collie (extra depth at WR), bolden (st) and maybe Washington (Williams also returns kicks). Three in one player. Just the type of versatility bb covets.

Questiin is will they do anything with Washington as well?

I don't know what Reiss is reporting, but Weei just has Woods and Williams as signing with the Patriots and Collie as being cut/released. Also only three guys were missing from practice Collie,Gregory and Bolden, guess you just have to connect the dots. After a little checking the Patriots have indeed signed Woods to the PS, per Field Yates. Williams takes Collie's spot on the 53 man roster.

I have not heard a peep regarding Bolden. Team likes him, and he has performed pretty well in spite of fighting injury.

Vereen is 100% ready to go

Actually surprised with the Woods signing that Washington is still on the roster

Bolden has barely practiced the last 3 weeks ish he was a bangd up knee that every week needs rest so he's 100% on sundays. Bolden is fine

Wow... changes galore going on...   makes you want to be a fly on the wall when BB is talking about these moves and why.  Other than injuries, what is driving this?  IE - Collie.

    Field Yates @FieldYates 2m

S Steve Gregory, RB Brandon Bolden, WR Austin Collie not at practice. WR wearing 16, RB wearing 35 present. Seems like roster moves coming.

They worked out a WR and RB yesterday  IR for all.Cry

The Patriots worked out five players on Monday, including former tight end Jake Ballard and defensive end Justin Francis, who were both released by the team near the conclusion of training camp, according to a league source.

Ballard, however, who was originally claimed by the Patriots off waivers during the 2012 offseason, was signed by the Cardinals on Monday.

Meanwhile, Francis was waived/injured at the end of training camp and eventually released off of the injured reserve list. A 2012 undrafted free agent out of Rutgers, he landed on the Patriots' 53-man roster as a rotational reserve defensive end and special-teams player.

The Patriots also worked out running back Cierre Wood, wide receiver Greg Orton and linebacker Marcus Dowtin.

Wood went undrafted in 2013 after a productive career with Notre Dame, signing with the Texans as a free agent. He was recently released after violating team rules during a road trip in Kansas City. The violation reportedly involved the use of marijuana.

Orton has spent time with both the Bengals and Broncos, who released him on Aug. 26. Originally an undrafted free agent in 2009, Orton is 6-foot-3 and 205 pounds.

Dowtin also was an undrafted free agent, coming out of North Alabama in 2012. He has spent time with the Jets, Eagles and most recently the Bills. In five games for Buffalo this season, he recorded six tackles.

Looks like Woods was telling the truth when he said he smoked a cigar and not a splif!

    http://espn.go.com/blog/boston/new-england-patriots/post/_/id/4752741/source-patriots-have-six-in-for-workouts

The team worked out two punters, Robert Malone and Shawn Powell, kicker Jose Carlos Maltos and two long-snappers, Jeremy Cain and Brian Jennings.

Did not know those positions need so much look see. You would think the Pats need more help at other positions, e.g. safety with Gregory hurt.
