If you don't do this with an open mind then it proves your adjenda. http://www.lewrockwell.com/paul/paul157.html I have worked in law enforcement for the better part of my adult life and I can tell you we are wasting billions fighting the drug war the way we are doing it. Limbaugh was caught in a catch 33 not even a catch 22! He had massive back pain and needed more meds then his doctor felt he could prescribe him though his own doctor admitted he medically should have been able to dispense that amount of medication.  So it makes people in impossible medical situations either suffer or "break the law" in these cases. He was not an "addict" in the sense most people consider it. Regardless of this whole issue who knows how he will be as an owner. If he is smart (I think he is) he will put someone in charge of the daily football decissions. Most owners that are any good set it up this way... like the Kraft family basicly does.

Those of you who choose to do without your mute buttons will be subjected to the spectacle of Limbaugh being interviewed in the broadcast booth like a pal and a buddy and just another ok guy. After what he said about McNabb, I wonder what he'll say about having a QB like Kyle Boller.

Four things don't belong in Football.

1.) Politics
2.) Religion
3.) Women playing football
4.) Those pink and white jerseys.

Limbaugh represents two of the four.

Sure he is a bit over the top sometimes but he is absolutely necessary considering this worthless administration that is pushing us towards socialism and eventually communism .

Re: Rush Limbaugh as (part) owner of the St. Louis Rams

Wow, this discussion got really stupid really fast.

Rush Limbaugh is a HUGE Steelers fan. He knows a lot about football, but I always wonder how easy it is for someone to change their loyalties from one team to another. For example, Kraft was a big Patriots fan prior to buying the Patriots.
Rush has a lot of money and obviously knows how to manage money, which is the #1 job of an owner (he would only be a partial owner, so nobody knows how they would divide duties). Would a team partially owned by Rush Limbaugh be able to turn things around? Nobody knows.

As far as the racist comments are concerned, one might be surprised to learn that Rush Limbaugh's best friend (and a member of his staff) Bo Snerdley is black. Rush is not a racist. The McNabb comment he had made was about the media, not McNabb himself. He thought the sports media (ESPN, SI, etc) were building McNabb up as a better player than he actually was/is, because they badly wanted another successful black quarterback (in order to create "news" stories). I don't disagree with this assessment. While McNabb is a decent QB, he did not turn out to be as good as the media tried to make him out to be.

hey i'm all for free speech, and i understand that limbaugh is just an actor and an entertainer who has found a niche market to make himself lots of money. and since he is an entertainer and i believe in free speech, i'm really not concerned with what he says or what is "ideas" are. but...as a fan of the NFL, i don't think he would represent the league or his team in a very positive way. would minority players feel good about playing for him? lets examine some of his statements:

Top 10 Racist Rush Limbaugh Quotes

1. I mean, let’s face it, we didn’t have slavery in this country for over 100 years because it was a bad thing. Quite the opposite: slavery built the South. I’m not saying we should bring it back; I’m just saying it had its merits. For one thing, the streets were safer after dark.

2. You know who deserves a posthumous Medal of Honor? James Earl Ray [the confessed assassin of Martin Luther King]. We miss you, James. Godspeed.

3. Have you ever noticed how all composite pictures of wanted criminals resemble Jesse Jackson?

4. Right. So you go into Darfur and you go into South Africa, you get rid of the white government there. You put sanctions on them. You stand behind Nelson Mandela — who was bankrolled by communists for a time, had the support of certain communist leaders. You go to Ethiopia. You do the same thing.

5. Look, let me put it to you this way: the NFL all too often looks like a game between the Bloods and the Crips without any weapons. There, I said it.

6. The NAACP should have riot rehearsal. They should get a liquor store and practice robberies.

7. They’re 12 percent of the population. Who the hell cares?

8. Take that bone out of your nose and call me back(to an African American female caller).

9. I think the media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well.  They’re interested in black coaches and black quarterbacks doing well.  I think there’s a little hope invested in McNabb and he got a lot of credit for the performance of his team that he really didn’t deserve.

10. Limbaugh even has repeatedly played a song on his radio show ‘Barack the Magic Negro’

On the October 23, 2006 edition of his radio show, Limbaugh imitated on the "DittoCam" (the webcam for website subscribers to see him on the air) the physical symptoms of actor Michael J. Fox, who has Parkinson's disease.[18][19] He said "(Fox) is exaggerating the effects of the disease. He's moving all around and shaking and it's purely an act ... This is really shameless of Michael J. Fox. Either he didn't take his medication or he's acting."[20]
In an attempt to undermine the Democratic campaigns, Limbaugh encouraged his listeners to vote for whoever was behind in the vote, an effort dubbed "Operation Chaos".[32

Limbaugh has said that "The dream end of [Operation Chaos] is that this keeps up to the Convention, and that we have a recreation of Chicago 1968 with burning cars, protests, fire, and literal riots and all of that, that is the objective here."[35]

On March 19, 2007 Limbaugh referred to a Los Angeles Times editorial by David Ehrenstein which claimed that Barack Obama was filling the role of the "magic negro", and that this explained his appeal to voters.[36] Limbaugh then later played a song by Paul Shanklin, "Barack the Magic Negro," sung to the tune of "Puff the Magic Dragon".[37]
On January 16, 2009 Limbaugh read a letter on his radio show that he had received a request from a national print outlet: ... "If you could send us 400 words on your hope for the Obama presidency, we need it by Monday night, that would be ideal." He responded, "I don't need 400 words, I need four: I hope he fails."
Limbaugh is critical of feminism, saying that "Feminism was established so as to allow unattractive women easier access to the mainstream of society."[60]
During the Clinton administration, while filming his television program, Limbaugh referred to media coverage of Socks, the Clintons' cat. He then stated, "Did you know there's a White House dog?" and held up to the camera a picture of the then-teenaged Chelsea Clinton.

This guy also got caught with hundreds of Oxycontin pills that would have put anyone of us in jail forever but he did a half hour in jail with $30k a month pay off afterwards. He's a real salt of the earth and I hope he's one day our fueher.
In Response to Re: Rush Limbaugh as (part) owner of the St. Louis Rams : Umm, look I am a conservative guy, and I agree with a lot of what Rush espouses.  But other then he made a comment about McNabb which I think was taken out of context which is what happens to people as polarizing as he is I do not recall any racist remarks and I listen to him all the time. I am not about to say I "know" him but I did meet him at a political rally a few years ago and he came across as a great guy... and someone who would be a blast to sit have a beer and watch a game with.   As is the cause of many in the Secular Progressive movement the modus operendi is to attack someone they disagree with and even slander them if it serves their purpose. I just would ask for proof, I know unreasonable isn't it!?
Posted by DaBlade
TAKEN OUT OF CONTEXT?  The guy said McNabb ONLY got the position because he was black!  Forget the number of 4,000 yd seasons he's had, or the fact that he became the first QB to take a team to their conference championship game FIVE times in a row.  The notion that such a comment is NOT racist is absurd.

The comment:
I think what we've had here is a little social concern in the NFL. The media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well,'' Limbaugh said. "There is a little hope invested in McNabb, and he got a lot of credit for the performance of this team that he didn't deserve. The defense carried this team."

On a factual basis, that comment was stupid, leaving nothing but race to account for the fact that he said it.  Here's the statistical proof.

Here's a stat line for you from a mystery Hall of Famer:
101 wins-59 losses (.631 winning %), 2874/4779, 35,467 yds, 7.42 yds/attempt, 60.1%, 237 TDs, 175 INTs, 84.4 passer rating

Here's Donovan McNabb's career stats thus far:
83 wins-45 losses-1 tie (.643 winning %), 2534/4303, 58.9%, 29320 yds, 6.80 yds/attempt, 194 TDs, 90 INTs, 85.9 passer rating
He's also rushed for 3,097 yards on 531 carries for a 5.8ypc avg, and yes, this is significant because teams have to defend his running AND his passing

No McNabb isn't clutch.  Yes, I think the chip on his shoulder regarding race as a prohibitive factor in his career is uncalled for and constitutes reverse racism.  BUT this board is arguing Rush Limbaugh, and the statistical evidence makes it clear that Limbaugh couldn't have POSSIBLY had any motivation other than race to make such a comment about McNabb.

If this is a sample of the line of thinking that Limbaugh will take to an NFL team, then he'll cut quarterbacks that put of prolific numbers simply because he doesn't want to "play to a media that wants to see a black QB succeed."  You stick it to the man, Limbaugh.  Clutch or no clutch.  Controversy or no controversy.  I'd still take McNabb over at least 20 other QB's any day of the week.

And the mystery quarterback: Jim Kelly.  He sure didn't do well in big games, but that certainly doesn't detract from the body of work over the course of his career.

It would take a hard-line, blinder-wearing Republican to assume that I'm liberal simply because I don't fall into line with your pariah, your vocal leader who isn't afraid to fling racist comments around, righteousness be damned.

I did NOT support Obama in last year's election.  I DID recognize that the man represented political favors and tax-and-spend economics.  I'll be the FIRST ONE to tell you that it's outrageous that "universal" healthcare is somehow not good enough for the President's family and Congress, yet should somehow be shoved down the people's throats.

No, instead read my post previous to this one.  Really read it and let it sink in, particularly the statistical comparison between the two QB's and tell me that this constitutes intelligent thinking by a prospective NFL owner.

Then take a good long look at ArtieLang's post and tell me that minorities will want to play for him.

By the way, I'm not black, but my outrage transcends race.

I think from a business standpoint, it would be terrible for a team to place at its helm a guy who has said such disparaging things about minorities.  I think free agents would think long and hard before signing for him.

Since we have no other way to judge how he'd manage an NFL team, I think we have no choice but to assess his politics as a reflection of how he thinks.

It's unfortunate, but a shaky ground I'm willing to travel to try to highlight Limbaugh's racism.
