Sam Aiken and Isaiah Stanback - Patriots starting WRs on opening day

It could happen. Infact seems likely at this stage.

This season could get uglier than the Reche Caldwell, Chad Jackson and Doug Gabriel starting WR nightmare of 2006. Atleast they weren't a special teams player and a quarterback.

I guess Moss and Edelmen will warm the bench. If you said starting special teams maybe i would consider your comments as being bright

Not only that but there is still time to trade on draft day for other wideouts or draft some other such as golden tate, brandon lafell, damian williams,Arrelius Benn, and carlton mitchell..

We will be fine and if anyone recalls the Patriots had top 5 i believe third ranked offense in the league last year yardage wise! Moss will be back and playing hard for a new contract, if welker cant start edleman will play the slot we signed patter, Tate will be back, and then we have others we trade for and draft we will be fine.

Also cant wait to see Tyrone Mckenzie back LB USF tore it up there too bad went out in rookie camp last year due to injury  .....

Are we trading Tate and Edelman? What happened to Moss?

This is absolutely ridiculous. Some of you "fans" are just as moronic as Jets fans.

The pats are in very bad shape. An afterthought in the race for the AFC East this coming year. Hey maybe BB will have another stellar draft this year just like last years.LOL.....BB is losing it and the pats are an afterthought throughout the NFL. Now the Jets on the other hand.......How are ya!?

I dont understand if ur trying to knock the pats or compliment them... Last years draft was a good one idiot... Vollmer @ 58... a complete steal. In a redraft by don banks @ Si.com, he went #8 over all!.. Edelman in the 7th, and Butler + Chung + Pryor will b good. If they have a similar draft to last years like you suggested, Rex might  be crying again....

Yeah, that's just as silly as having David Patten and David Givens catching balls.

Steinback and Aiken aren't flashy, but they run good routes and have potential. The Pats of 2001-2004 proved you don't need big name WR to win championships.

You didn't say "part of the receiving core" in your original post, you said starting.

I will venture to say that on opening day, Aiken will be no higher than 4th on the depth chart, and Stanback probably won't be in uniform. Even Welker is more likely to be starting in Week 1. And we can pretty much guarantee that at least one more receiver will be added before the season starts.  Moss, Edelman, Tate, Welker, Free agent/draft pick are all more likely options.

No and no. Infact I bet only one (guessing Aiken) makes the team. Then he might be out once Wes comes back.

You're not hysterical. Some people still believe that Belichick is trying to play the rest of the NFL for fools, but he isn't. After hoping he had a master plan all last year, and into the 3rd quarter of the Ravens' match, all I can say is Belichick is in a loop. He's never had such a lack of talent on the defensive side of the ball, maybe in Cleaveland, and he doesn't know how he can bring out any potential in them. The Pats don't have a few minor holes that when fixed they will become SB contenders, they have holes that IF, keyword is if, fixed they have a chance at a winning record. I would much rather have the '06 offense than this one. Atleast in '06 we could run the ball and protect Brady.

Re: Sam Aiken and Isaiah Stanback - Patriots starting WRs on opening day

I understand why people think it is too early to panic as it is only March. But, think of it this way. Consider the WR position - most of the better FA WRs are out of the market. T.O and RFAs like Marshall are pretty long shots. That leaves us the draft. How many WRs do you guys think we might draft in the first 2 rounds (where the better receivers are found) considering the other positions like DE/OLB, atleast one OL, possible a RB, my be a TE that we have to fill. Even if we draft two WRs, what are the chances that they would be upto NFL level and be capable of catching Brady by season beginning. So consider all that before calling the OP hysterical. We have Moss, Edelman and Tate. Edelman is good, but Tate - we don't know yet. Who is going to replace Welker?  We only have a limited number of draft picks and better players in the FA are no more available, so why shouldn't we panic when we have still too many holes to fill?
