There's a lot riding on Muhammad Wilkerson.  He needs to come through for them or letting Shaun Ellis walk will look pretty dumb.

[QUOTE]It just goes to show you how ignorant most of you are.  The reason why the 2009 Jets D was historically great was becasue it gave up 14.8 points a game...with a slew of new starters and in Rex's first year as a HC.  This is relatviely close to the 12.2 ppg that the "85 Bears gave up. I know math is not the strong point of most Patriot fans, so I'll break it down for you... that's less than a FG difference, each and every game.  The 2011 Jets have veteran CB and safty that are now in their second years, 2010s top pick in his second year, a couple of the best DL in this years draft and other additions that have made the D more athletic than last years. Cutting a FG off of Rex's D from his first year as a HC is out of the question? I think not.

Just running off your "It just goes to show you how ignorant most of you are," greater point that'chre makin'...   You DO know that Sanchez made this Jets Defense parallel in relation to what Sanchez sees and feels, thus far from The Jets D, in facing them through the first week, week and a half of Summer Practice...right?  Sanchez is referencing what HE sees, thus far, RIGHT now, and not "how they fared in the past year, and what they can hopefully bring, not bring, improve upon," or whatever...

Although not offering any specifics (whatsoever) to back up his claim of comparing The 2011 first week of summer practice camp, Jets Defense to the 1985 Chicago Bears Defense...  And, I guess considering that ya know, You only get the first tiny smallest snapshot of what's going on, within this first week of training camp...  I just, huh- I don't know how we can even BEGIN to judge this vaunted Jets Defense, in relation to (as you say) "other historical Defenses"....?  I just...?

GOT IT!!!  We got it...  No-brainer=HA!  A way to objectively analyize just HOW insanely good, the Jets Defense Is, OR Is not...  READY!?!  Strength of Schedule!!!  No someone's gotta go look up The Bears D, and How they fared and how good THEY were vs. The Offense's and teams that The 85 Bears faced during the entire course of That Season...o.k.?  So someone get back to me on this, b/c I already called it, and it'll be MY job to weigh the strength of schedule, and how proficient the Offense's were that The first week of summer camp 2011 Jets Defense, has gone up against thus far...which is (ready?):

Mark Sanchez leading First Team ny jets offense for the first week of summer training camp
AND (not even close to be outdone by)...."some other guy" commanding like an unbeaten general, The second team ny jets offense in the first week of 2011 summer training camp
< />Now someone do The 85 Chicago Bears Defense, and we'll throw em side by side so we can watch the bears wither...

    ROFL..... ROFL.......  ROFL

I can't catch my breath from laughing so hard. So because in 09' the Jets had a killer D in 11' they will have one too? Even though there was turn over last year and their D got worse and now they lost 2 of their best rushing specialists on the line yet they are going to get better because of rooks?

Though I have to be fair to Sanchez. He is comparing his own training camp experience to the 86' Bears. I mean both have below 50% competition rating, both had between a 2:1 - 3:1 int to TD ratio, both will had a lot of sacks, and both had QB's screaming like a girl.

Sigh pre-season where every team thinks they could win a SB

Well, I suspect he feels that way because they are probably tearing the YETS offense to pieces in training camp.  He is probably spending a lot of time on his back.  That might have more to do with him than with the defense or perhaps their offense as a whole.

Re: Sanchez compares jets defense to '85 Bears

The Bears D is one of the best Ds of all time. THe JEts did not even have the best D in the league last year. So while I can see they beleive they will have a good D this year (in spite of the huge and critical question marks on their D line which makes any claim of asurity very questionable) it is the hallmark of that team to grotesquely over state their own measure.

This is a team that guaranteed a SB two years ago and didnt even win their Division. They guaranteed a SB last year and didnt even win their Division. If you listen to them they have the best of everything. Claiming their D is the best of all time or comparable to the best of all time when they are not even the best in the league right now is hugely absurd.

Good D with some question marks that could be answered either way. Historic D? Really?

Historically good?  The Jets 2009 Defense was very good in 2009.  But seriously, nobody is putting them in any history books.  14.8ppg is not that close to 12.2 when we are talking great D'sand was only fractionally better than the 2nd place DAL defense.  That monumental feat has been outdone almost every year.

    2010 PITT 14.5ppg
    2008 PITT 13.9ppg, TENN 14.6
    2006 BAL 12.6, NE 14.8
    2005 CHI 12.6
    2003 NE  14.9
    2002 TB 12.3
    etc...etc...

Even when you consider just the last five years, the "Historical" Jets defense doesn't make the top 5.

Relatively close. That's great. Just like they were relatively close to going to the Super Bowl right? This could be new Jets motto. 'WE"RE RELATIVELY CLOSE!'

Your behavior, with this inferiority complex, insecurity and victim mentality, looking for blame other than your own backyard, as well as taking no accountability for said will to improve, are clear parallels between your behavior and a terrorist.  You each pretend that you are better than their own oppressive goverment you are trying to get away from. Woody Johnson/Tannenrube is your oppressive government.  You are the victim of it.
