    Re: SI.com Peter King's 2009-2010 NFL predictions

he's actually got some nice reads on the NFL for once proving he can do something else besides report on Terrell Owens, Brett Favre and spygate!  nice Pete!

Tampa Bay, 4 wins, is a big stretch.  they are awful, worse than the Lions actually.
2 wins is more like it for them.   LIons Stafford looks really good, and Culpepper has some zip and is in shape.  Kevin Smith a nice looking big back and Megatron Calvin Johnson is as good if not better than any wr in the NFC.  I like Detroit to get back to 6/7 wins, maybe even .500.    Schwartz knows what he's doing, just like John Harbaugh as a rookie head coach last year or Mike Smith for Atlanta.

    Here's my go at it.

Patriots, 14-2, 13-3 if they don't need the last game to secure homefield
    Bills, 9-7
    Dolphins 7-9
Jets 3-13, Sanchez is going to struggle big time, their defense won't get it going til the 2nd half of the season learning Ryan's system, they will start 0-5, look at their schedule and their best two players on D are suspended to start the year!  They'll really miss Lav Coles too on offense to get that key tough catch

Ravens 11-5, Flacco is legit, he's going to have a great year.  Ravens D will miss Bart Scott but still alot there and Ed Reed is all world, he'll win 2 games on his own.
Steelers 10-6,  SB hangover, but their defense still good enough to win a lot of games.  Parker not durable, Ben a bit dinged up, Holmes hasn't even taken the field yet, Ward looking slow
    Bengals 6-10
    Browns 5-11

Texans, 10-6, love this team this year. BUT they can't afford any injuries, no depth at all.  who's got a better offensive skill top guys in Andre Johnson, owne daniels, walters, Schaub and Slaton?  Schaub has looked really good but he always gets hurt, only reason i dont' put them at 11-12 wins. defense is suspect in the secondary too.
    Colts 9-7
    Jags 7-9
Titans 6-10,  Collins goes down and Vince Young is horrible.

Chargers, 10-6, have to factor in the Norv Turner factor here, he seems to always get unlucky in 2 games every year the Chargers or whatever team he's coaching should have won.   career winning % is 45% and he's coached over 10 years!
Broncos, 8-8, Josh McD knows how to coach.  they aren't as bad as people think, defense is below average but when Marshall shows up to play, they have a great wr to go with very good Eddie Royal.  rb they are loaded and Knowshon Moreno is a stud when he gets going,   they may start slow but finish strong.  4 easy winnable games vs KC twice and the Raiders twice too.
    Chiefs 4-12
    Raiders 2-14, sorry as* franchise

    Eagles, 11-5
    Cowboys 10-6
    Giants 8-8
    Redskins 7-9

    Vikings 11-5
    Packers 10-6
    Bears 8-8
    Lions 6-10

    Saints, 11-5
    Panthers 10-6
    Falcons 10-6
    Bucs 1-15

    Seahawks 10-6
    Cards 8-8
    Niners 6-10
    Rams 4-12

The Bears are not a Super-Bowl team to me, I don't know that they are a play-off team.  Cutler is an upgrade but they still don't have many threats on offense and the defense is not what it was 2-3 years ago.  Chiefs at 8 seems like a stretch as does Giants at 12, that division is brutal, I don't know how anyone wins 12 but I think 6 is a real low number for Washington.

Patsloyalfan, I respect your predictions, and you may eventually be right, but Joe Flacco has no mobility at all. He's got a great arm and he seems like nice kid, but I love when the Steelers play against him, because the defense doesn't have to worry about him taking off with the ball. As for the Steelers, they won the Super Bowl without a Punting Game, and a very poor kickoff & return specialist. Sepulveda is back booming punts & the Steelers finally have a dangerous return man in, Stefan Logan. Hines Ward has always looked slow, but with the starters on the field for both teams last week, Hines looked good. A real nice mix of younger players, and I don't think Tomlin will allow any hangovers. I was glad to read that Tom Brady was zipping the ball around. It's good to see him back. Win or lose, I want to see the best players out on the field. Hat's off to Tedy Bruschi, what a class act he has been thru 13 season's with the Patriots. I can certaintly understand how Coach Belichick could become emotional about talking about what Tedy Bruschi has meant to the organization.

These predictions are so foolish! Football is won on the field, not on a piece of paper! Predicting which players will gel, who will stay healthy, or which unknown stars arise, can not be done It;'ss Impossible! so dont get all worked up over this, but I like seeing it anyway, hahaha!

I'm sure 99% of predictions last season had the pats in the SB! Sorry kids!

    Re: SI.com Peter King's 2009-2010 NFL predictions

I can't see the Texans getting 10 wins. All the media idiots are kissing their ball sack, but I don't get it. Schaub cannot stay healthy. He's already nursing a hammy and the season hasn't started yet! And if they did manage to win the division (I think it will be the Titans), the Colts won't beat them in Houston in January. The Steelers should win at least 12, and the Chiefs probably won't win eight if you gave them the Vegas spread! I also don't see the Giants taking the NFC East, Eli has no chemistry whatsoever with his receivers. I see them only making a WC if they can somehow get it together as the season progresses. I'd also switch his predictions for the 'Boys and 'Skins. I don't see the Chargers beating the Steelers in the playoffs, either. Back in 07 they played a weak Titans team, then drew the Colts. Norv won't be able to guide them to January wins over Pittsburgh or NE, sorry! Also, I doubt the Bears even make it to 8-8. Another case of the media idiots hanging on Cutler's jock, putting the Bears in the SB! And three 10 win teams in the NFC North? Please, Mr. King, send me some of that primo s h i t you've been smoking! I see the playoff scenario like this:

    AFC

    1. Patriots

    2. Steelers

    3. Titans or Colts

    4. Chargers

    5. Titans or Colts

    6. Ravens

    NFC

    1. Packers

    2. Eagles

    3. Falcons

    4. Cardinals

    5. Vikings or Saints

    6. Giants

In the SB I can see a rematch of either SB31 or SB39 (with the Patriots winning either matchup, of course).

We've got pretty much the same thing, with the exception of your NFC WC teams are reversed from mine. I also have the Titans and Colts battling it out for the #3 and #5 seeds (IMO it could be either way around). I just can't see the Falcons amking it to the NFCCG. Not enough talent and experience...yet. I like Ryan, but I think he'll need at least another year to be a SB contender. I also think the Packers will beat Phlly in January, unless GB has injuries like last year. If they stay healthy I'd take Rodgers over McNabb in the big game.

what was Steelers record after lucking out in Seattle super bowl win where roeth was 10=28 for 120 yards or whatever lousy numbers he put up in that game?  i think you missed the playoffs and Coach Chin retired. i see a similar fall this year, just not all the way to below .500.   great great defense still though Curtain,  just seems like some of your key offensive players not in sync for a championship type season!

Ben was 15 for 18 for close to 200 yards in the first half of the
dress rehearsal game. Since Ben has been in the league he owns
2 Superbowls and Brady has 1. End of Discussion.

Patriots will win 11 games but no more. Their offensive line
can't stand there and pass block like they did in 2007.
Brady's risk of injury is very high. No Brusci, vrabel,
and harrison. That was part of the heart and soul
of those Superbowl teams. (along with Ernie Adams)
Patriots secondary is awful. You have either old
players in the secondary or rookies. Belichicks
defense isn't close to what it once was. The Pats
defense scares no one anymore. Moss is your entire
offense. If he gets hurt, Brady reverts back to a
game manager without his defense and Video
    camera to back him up.

That I blame mostly on guys like Cowher and Joey Porter. The Chin finally won his ring, knew he was going to retire, and rested on his laurels. Porter the blowhard got a big ego (well, bigger I should say!), and a lot of that flowed down to the other players. That was also the season Ben was out at the start. I doubt Mike Tomlin will let these guys slack off like the 06 team did. They are also bringing back 90% of the straters from last year.

Since Ben has been in the league he owns 2 Superbowls and Brady has 1. End of Discussion.

End of discussion? Who died and left you in charge of the message board? If this is the case, let's say that since Brady has been in the league the Patriots have three rings and the Steelers two. We'll just throw out the four so you can stop all your bragging about six championships! You are such a moron!

Instead of worrying about NE's lone, you should be worried about the Steelers'! It seems to me that Ben has a much higher injury risk than Brady. He's taken a hell of a lot of hits these last two years! You know what they say about people in glass houses...

It's too bad the NFL bettors don't read the Daily Racing Form.
The Form actually give you reports on past performances, timed exercises, and breeding.Given this vast amount of information your chances at the track really don't match the effort put in by most predictors.
If you don't lose money it's a triumph.
In fact, it is probably easier to pick  the winner in a two horse race than the present NFL standings.
Everyone who picked the Cardinals and Pittsburg in the Super Bowl last year, stand up.This includes Mr. King who has some knowledge.
