The 5-10, 184-pound cornerback from South Carolina has 393 tackles, including four quarterback sacks, and 13 interceptions during his career, which was briefly derailed after a Robinson suffered a potentially career-ending knee and hamstring injury midway through the 2007 season.
He returned to action midway through the 2008 season, and last year started all 16 games for the Texans, often matched up against the opponents' top receiver.
Robinson, the Texans' first-round pick (10th overall) in the 2004 NFL Draft, played last season under the one-year franchise tag, which paid him $9.957 million dollars. He had turned down a long-term contract offer from the Texans that reportedly included $23 million in guaranteed money. To franchise Robinson again would have cost the Texans $11.948M in guaranteed money for the 2010 season.
Instead, Robinson will now be one of the most sought-after cornerbacks when free agency kicks off on March 5.
