Really sad to see TFB12 turn into an irrational fan looking to join the Irrationals.   To go against Kraft and BB after all they've done is very weak.

It's about the team not just a handfiul of the better players.

Hahaha.  You must be the guy who has like 10 junky cars sitting on your property, barely running, worth nothing, driving a different one each day depending on which one is running at at the time, while your neighbor has a couple of fairly nice cars in his garage that gets him to and from places on a dependable basis helping him achieve his goals, while you spend your precious time fixing your cars, and figuring out which car is going to get you to where you need to be in order to achieve your goals.

Take it easy. This happens every year.

I'll get frustrated and start freaking out if we lose Welker, Talib and Vollmer before signing anyone worth mentioning.

Then, and only then, will I start freaking out. There is a plethora of CB's still available, last I checked Welker is still available(and we might end up with him for cheaper then we expect, IMO) and Vollmer is still unsigned.

    Chill out..

With the exception of the Colts who imo dramatically overachieved how many teams that made the playoffs last year have been active in FA?  As far as I can tell the Broncos made one big signing with that offensive lineman.  The Packers, Pats, Ravens, 9ers, Texans, Vikings, Seahawks, Redskins and Bengals have not done anything beyond retaining some of their own guys or adding some low priced people.  Remember Harvin was traded and was not a FA.  Chill the f out people.  I seriously want to bump threads from last year when people were all worried about the dam Bills because they "won FA".

Glover Quin would have been a nice fit.  But he just got away too!  There are a few really good DB's left, hope he is working on something with one of em.

Every season at this time of year it is the same thing on this board.  "When are the Patriots gonna sign some FAs or why are they losing some players to FA?" being a common theme.  In the end it seems the same result occurs.  The Pats may not win the SB all the time, which is the case for most teams in the NFL, but, are one of a small handful of teams who are making it to the dance regardless of lineup changes.  Seems BB and that braintrust he uses pulls together the players they feel will make this team a winner.  This ain't fantasy football in which you can load up your lineup with every FA available!

TFB12 doesn't seem to understand that.  Eagles fans sure do!

When you spend a pile of money on one or more big name FAs, it affects the rest of the team roster near term and long term.   If the Pats were a mediocre team, then and only then, I would question their approach to FA strategy.

They do it because they have Brady and that's about it. Imagine what they would have done if instead of getting 4 playing and cutting 3 of them every year they actually took the money they spent on the 4 and put it towards one player. Even if they only hit on every other player that way you don't think we could have been better? Face it, for the most part the Pats in FA find a couple nice players that do alright but never come away with a player that makes the impact that you say, I'm glad we picked up them. We could have been and be so much more if they didn't have the feeling that it's better to pay 5 players and hope one sticks then to take a risk and sign the one player and hope they stick

    Finally, some action....

    Greg A. Bedard @GregABedard

On a side note, it appears that while Aqib Talib takes his time, the Patriots are dipping their toes into the CB pool. No names yet
