In Response to Steelers QB Roethlisberger listed as defendant in sexual harassment suit:
This may be just a woman looking for a payout but here's the article from foxsports.com: Roethlisberger listed as defendant in NV lawsuit Associated Press  RENO, Nev. (AP) - Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has been named as a defendant in a lawsuit filed by a woman in Nevada. According to online court records, a defamation lawsuit was filed in Washoe County on Friday. Andrea McNulty is listed as the plaintiff. Details of the suit were not available late Monday night. Roethlisberger was one of nine defendants listed in the online court docket report. Roethlisberger's attorney released a statement to several media outlets Monday night saying the two-time Super Bowl winner was accused of sexual assault in the lawsuit by McNulty. Atlanta-based attorney David Cornwell denied Roethlisberger sexually assaulted McNulty. "This weekend Andrea McNulty served Ben Roethlisberger with a civil complaint accusing him of sexually assaulting her in July 2008. Ben has never sexually assaulted anyone; especially Andrea McNulty. The timing of the lawsuit and the absence of a criminal complaint and a criminal investigation are the most compelling evidence of the absence of any criminal conduct. If an investigation is commenced, Ben will cooperate fully and Ben will be fully exonerated," Cornwell said. A phone message and e-mail from the AP to Cornwell were not immediately returned. Attorney Calvin R. Dunlap, of Reno, filed the suit, according to court documents. A telephone message left for him was not immediately returned.

I think she was very upset when she realized that he was only the MVP in the game... not in real life.

Seriously though, "IF" (and that is a huge if) her story is found to be true.... this is a shame.   Although I am not a steelers fan, I thought this kid had his stuff together....
Now I am wondering if he was just Young Dumb and full of....

The girl was hospitalized for depression after the incident. Ben is toast on this. He will cough up big bucks to try and bury it, but it will haunt him forever. This lady has a lot of evidence that a jury will listen to. And the whole hotel was in on the coverup. Somebody will spill.

I wonder if she has a little blue dress, and maybe the end of a cigar?  There is always someone who was involved (in the periphery) that will say some little thing that allows the connections like a web, until the truth comes out.

I thought I heard that she tried to bring this up to Hotel security and they wanted to hear nothing about it.....  Well if that is true.... This lady will get all of the 98.4% that the casino pays out of it's slot machines for this year, because she will be in for a huge payday and "IF" security blew her off when she tried to make a complaint, then she deserves it.

I'll admit to being the first person to post about her being a "possible" gold digger.  Clearly not everyone feels like I do.  If there were more to this than asking for money I would not have said that.  I find it rather strange how anyone can use the accuser's lawsuit filing, written by the accusers attorney, as evidence of anything.  Does anyone expect the lawsuit filing to contain any exculpatory material?  Let's wait until her version of the facts are challenged.  For instance, I guess we are all just blowing off the stories that her therapy visits were unrelated to BR, and were due to some "phantom soldier" she fell for that ended up not even existing.  Apparently some soldier's wife pretended to be the soldier (via email) and she fell for it.  OK, that may be a load of BS, but so may her case.

Here is how my household goes if we watch Court TV:

    Prosecution Opening Argument...
CarawayDJ: Give that low life a lethal injection now.
CarawayDJ's Wife: But he's on trial for shoplifting...
    CarawayDJ: Oh... my bad.
    Defense Opening Argument...
CarawayDJ: Oh man, how can they even arrest that poor guy.

Moral to the story, let's get all sides of the story before we convict BR.  Of course, if I happen to have a conversation with a Steelers fan BR instantly gets convicted.  I will gladly let them know their QB is a rapist :^)

    Carawaydj,
I love your honesty.  You have conflicting thoughts and you air them out, what a concept...  I hope it's contagious.  In relation to the "therapy" evidence.  It only comes in, if she brings it.  Patient provider confidentiality would prevent testimony from the therapist unless she brings something up that they know the therapist can rebutt.  They can't use the therapist in a "fishing expedition".  These other stories are actually part of her claim against the hotel staff.  She states that they engaged in "slander" basically saying she was "loose" and a who**.  Troubling aspect of TTB's story is his claim that he knew nothing of her complaints about their interaction until Saturday.  Without getting all legal, that's impossible.  Besides, he returned to the scene of the alleged crime the following year.  She was "forced" to take some time off. Is it plausible that none of his Harah's high powered friends informed him of her previous complaints.  Possible but not probable.  We now have both sides of the story.  She said he did it, and he says her claims are "reckless".  No way this goes before a jury, but he will still get suspended.  Bank on it...

We haven't "really" heard both sides of the story until they are challenged in a trial.  Only then do you get the "Paul Harvey rest of the story".  She put the therapy in her court filing, it is fair game and can be explored.  Either way, I'm going to wait until both sides of the story are challenged and subject to more scrutiny before I assume any of the "stories" are factual.  If we simply assume that any lawsuit filing contains the facts and nothing but the facts there would be no need for trials or judges.  Or I guess some would have me believe that if an accusers attorney is reputable then the lawsuit filing must be taken as hard evidence of guilt...  I think BR is under a lot of pressure to settle.  Her attorney knew he would be and is counting on it.  We'll probably never know all of the "facts", just "stories".

Re: Steelers QB Roethlisberger listed as defendant in sexual harassment suit

I think it is only natural to have conflicting thoughts about this because both of the negative sides of this issue have been shown to be true.

Many men (and not just athletes and celebrities) have shown an ability to not stop at "no".

Women have shown an ability to try to take successful men to the cleaners by claiming things that never happened.

Every situation is different and even after a legal decision is made, there is no guarantee that justice was actually served.
