the pats offered him a 2 year deal worth 1 mil less per year than the deal he took....if he felt so disrespected by the pats offer, why would he take a deal around the same price range?

Umm, probably since they had Amendola already signed and last season they were begining to phase him out.. Don't blame him one bit.

Plus Rusty said he was already gone when the clock struck 0:00 after the AFCC game.

Patriots Spin Doctors are thick today.  Are you guys sure you aren't paid posters??

How many on this Board thought the Pats were going to offer WW 10 milliion for 2 years to try to retain him? Reportedly another team offered 15 million but he took the Denver offer . Mike Reiss said WW deserved better. The people on this board talking derogatorily about him as a person are losers and don't remember the good service he gave to the team.

i guess you could say he deserved better...but he was offered a bigger contract last year and didnt accept it. look, he was great here, but he went to a rival team on a deal that was similar to what the patriots had offered him. the smack talk is natural any time a player does something like that. wes will be missed, but im confident in BB and i really like the amendola signing, i think people are going to be pleasantly surprised with what this kid can do.

its not a spin, and im not saying i blame him....he took some more money to go play elsewhere...players want to be paid, i get it. im just saying im not going to b.itch and moan about it because the pats already had a back-up plan in place and now are working on other parts of the team.

No matter what way you slice it guys or who you make the good and bad guy it's over. Wes Welker is a Denver Bronco now, so deal with it. That's it, get on board !!

WELL, WELKER STATED IN HIS OWN WORDS DURING HIS INTERVIEW THAT HE KEPT PITCHING THE IDEA TO ELWAY TO SIGN HIM, SO IF THAT IS NOT BEGGING THEN SOMEONE GIVE ME SOME CLARITY PLEASE.

HE ALSO STATED TO ELWAY MY SALARY CAN BE RE-NEGOTIATED.

ALSO, STEVEN A SMITH IS IN THE FOOTBALL HALL OF FAME.. LOL  LOL

NOW HE WILL BE IN DENVER WITH HIS IN-LAWS.

LAST YEAR HE TURNED DOWN FROM THE PATRIOTS 16 MILLION FOR 2 YEARS.

SO I ASSUME HE GOT HIS 2 YEAR 12 MILLION. HE MUST HAVE KILLED THE MATH TEACHER.

Yes Reiss said that WW deserved better but not in the context that you are describing.

How about reading the entire article and not just the headline?

Really?  Wleker turned down that 2 yr $16M contract last year and the Pats treated him badly.  How about thumbing your nose at an $8M per year contract?

You have it right.  They offered him 8 mil a year for 2 years and he wanted 3 years so the Pats had to use the tag and paid him 9.5 million.  Now he gets 6 million per year.  They might not have given him what he wanted but they gave him more than he was worth. He sure wasn't disrespected as some have said.

When Welker asks for more than his share he is taking money away from his teamates.

Good luck to Noah.  Better times will come.

Consider the source. It's the old adage: "Keep your mouth shut and everyone will be guessing. Open it up and remove all doubt".  Makes you wonder who's the bigger blowharding gasbagger, Smith or Rexy.

Re: Stephen A. Smith got it right!

Seems we all forget it is a BUSINESS and a damn big one. Both sides make decisions that are in their best interests. If WW or the Pats dealt with any animosity to the other side then neither side did themselves justice. If both sides dealt honarably and to better themselves then no harm no foul.

If WW signed a contract he thought was better then no one should complain about his being treated improperly.

SAS is basing his decision on past history and we all know teams get burned all the time making contracts based upon the past. Need we look back at contracts for FA the Redskins have handed out over the past 5 years. How many FA signings have gone belly up like Albert Haynesworth in Wash and NE. Teams that sign FA after a certain age and position are asking for problems. WW is small and has taken a ton of hits believe BB did what the team needed.

I believe WW saw that his time was short in NE and decided to move on and made his business decision for him and his family.
