    Stop Trying to Play Better

Brady's mindset seems to be perfection. Today his response to losing again was "We all have to play better in all phases, the whole game." This is what he says every week (win or lose), and it's the wrong approach. The secret to becoming great at anything is seeking perfection all week, but then when it's time to perform, to let it go. Forget drills, forget techniques, forget mechanics and just play the game you love. Otherwise, every overthrown pass, missed block, dropped ball means failure because that perfection has not been achieved.

The sign that Brady or the team in general has let go and is just playing, is some joking around and smiling: having fun. Remember, this is the game that you love. Our team doesn't smile.

They're playing tight every down, no room for error. Then they go to the sideline and pout. There's such a dearth of fun in the Patriots' play, that it makes watching the game painful.

You don't have to be perfect, you just have to play your best.

It's not just some emotion. Anger is an emotion. They're always angry. They're just not having fun. It makes them not fun to watch and it makes them lose.
