Re: TALIB or WELKER?

In response to PatsLifer's comment:
precisely. We have a ton of capable slot type guys. Lloyd, Hern, Edelman, Vereen. All capable. With ballard Playing, it gives us flexibility to move Hern around more. However, if we let Wes walk, I still think we need a big, fast, athletic down the field WR. Otherwise, back where we started and teams can load the box.
People right now are complaining about a couple of Welker drops, can you imagine Lloyd? The dude drops a lot more then Welker. Same with Hernandez. Edelman can't s n the field and still isn't nearly as good as Welker is. Vereen??? Can't tell what he can do, they don't give him a shot. I thought he looked good against the Texans but he didn't see a role increase yesterday.
As for Lloyd, check this out....
Post Season only:
Brandon Lloyd.....12 postseason catches this year.....YAC =.......get ready, sit down for this.....6 yards combined or an average YAC of 0.5 yds/catch
Post Season YAC ranking....tied for 55th
12 catches on 23 targets....102 yds=8.5 yd ave.....1 TD.....longest catch 16 yds......6 first downs.
For the regular season, Lloyd ranked #115 in YAC with 180 yds but with an incredibly high 50 1st downs. In fact Lloyd ranks 21st in the league with 50 1st downs
Conclusion: It is clear Lloyd is a possession receiver only and should be limited to 3rd downs. He is a very solid #3 WR but how effective can a team be with a starting WR incapable of advancing the ball after the catch.
I like Lloyd but the above stats say it all. He can't make a slot receiver, not in this system.
I just can't understand the hate for Welker. Clearly he helps this team win games, you want to keep people who don't help the team win games and get rid of the ones that do. Crazy!!
