i like the potential of Lattimore....but i dont think running back is a need on the team. ridley and vereen were very good last year and should only improve.

The Pats have a need at RB like they have a need at OT; 0!

And to the guys knocking Ridley for the fumble in the AFCCG, show some class, will you? He got knocked out cold! He didn't get the ball knocked out of his hands, he just wasn't conscience enough to have a hold on the ball.

    Bruschi is wrong.

No one is busting in Riddler for being concussed but the fact remains, he often fails when needed.  Can't even think of one game changing, clutch play he's made.

Perhaps you can refresh my memory?

IMO he's a talented guy but maybe is benefiting from the pass game more than not.

When the pass game is shut down, so is he.  I don't think that's a coincidence.

Some people here, (if the shoe fits) feel every discussion of need is a Brady apologist or BB basher.  Maybe, just maybe, someone with inner knowledge of the team and has played at a professional level for years, is right.

Maybe burger boys should just stick to super sizing that order.

    Well, you said

Where were those RB's in the Afc game.  Oh, yeah, concussed and fumbling and failing to punch in one yard in the ez.  Whose fault was that again? When Ridley was the only guy who fumbled in the AFCCG. Plus, blame Ridley all you want, but tiny Welker being the featured WR makes it hard for Defenses to NOT press us and stuff the box with 9 guys and make Ridley have to earn every yard he gets.

makes alot of sense to me. our best back can't hold on to the ball and gets knocked out by safeties.

So, I could drink a gallon of coffee before a game and I am good under the eyes of the NFL?

Sure, since any enhancement of your performance would be completely offset by the fact that you'd spend the entire game in the porta-potty!

Re: Tedy Bruschi says one of Patriots needs is Running Back???

Did Rusty really say drinking a gallon of coffee and your good? He really needs to know how biology works. Your body will only absorb so much chemicals during processing and dump the rest. If you drink a gallon of coffee you will pee out most of the caffine. Adderall is a concentrate and thus gets asorb through the blood stream in a completely different manner then caffine from drinking coffee. You can actually crystalize caffine and take it in pill form (actually that's what most no doze medications are) except for the fact that you can actually OD on caffine. That's why energy drinks and no doze pills limit how much they put in. Caffine actually becomes toxic to the body in concentrated form past 250mg causing symptoms of pain and lose of body control but, long term exposure at these rates can permenantly effect your nervous system (not something the average player wants) and has a fatal LD-50 of 150mg/kg. The average 20oz cup of coffee has 400mg of caffine but the kidneys prevent most absorption, however in large concentrations the kidneys saturate and release a large amount into the blood stream during flushing. If a RB weights 220lbs drinks an average of just over 8 20oz cups coffee in a single sitting (<30mins) they start to form accute nerve issues effecting body control and causing pain while 30-40 20oz cups of coffee cause toxic shock and death, though the player would drown from liquid overdose before that actually happened (yes it does happen). So any notion that you can drink 25-30cups of coffee in a single sitting to get similar effects is just silly to begin with because your body would go into toxic shock and could not possible handle that much liquid in a single sitting. To put it into perspective 25 normal cups of coffee (12 oz) is just under 3 gallons. Try drinking 3 gallons of anything in under 30mins and see how well your body does. Your kidneys shut down and essentially pass unfiltered liquid as quickly out of your body as possible while your brain essentially sends out chemicals preventing you from drinking more unless it's being forced down your throat.

And don't even say then it would be impossible because adderal does the same thing, it doesn't. Completely different absorption, delivery, and chemical reaction than caffine. The end effect might be similar to how you get there but two complete different paths traveled

Silly argument.  The NFL doesn't call Adderall a "performance-enhancing drug."  It's a "prohibited substance" which comes under a list entitled "certain stimulants." Sudafed is on that list (unless prescribed).

we have ridley, vareen, bolden, washington, and demps. Maybe we will pick up another UDFA or 2 for camp competition to push demps and bolden.

Washington and Demps are not answers. Fiametta is not at all. At best Washington is a little insurance for Vereen but there is a REAL drop off there.

The question is whether three viable RBs are enough and if not what sort of back is targetted. I would not expet an RB to be a target in the first three rounds. A FA such as a pick up just before the season opens is more likely if they want to add a back.

the real problem is the NFL can't disclose what they actually tested positive for to begin with. The agents and players can say whatever they want. Adderall is an easy out as ADHD is common and easily forgiven in the minds of most fans. In ever case unless the player actually presents the perscription as proof (only one actually has as far as I know) then the odds of them actually testing positive because of Adderall as a real treatment for ADHD is small instead of something else. Additionally if Adderall didn't help them and they don't have ADHD then why take it to begin with when there are alternatives? It does help focus which is an enhancement on the field.

Re: Tedy Bruschi says one of Patriots needs is Running Back???

I don't like Russel Sheppard, he never reall caught on to the playbook, which is not hyper complex.

If BB is looking for value, I think Ford could be a good option. He didn't flourish, but LSU switches backs in and out. He is a legit HR threat though, and he's never had the ball control issues that Ridely had. He also has much less experience and isn't a natural football mind from what I've seen. He's killer on the option, but there has to be more. He is also leaving because he's lost time to Blue, who looks even better.

Spencer Ware lost time, he was a somewhat less effective version of Ridley, and kind of a duplicate.

Ford in the 56th or something like that would be a great value pick, someone you can farm, and can come compete. He is just a fantastic athlete really. Rolling the dice for cheap can be good.

If BB went high, I would want it to be someone special that really isn't there. From what I've seen Lacy is a lot like Ridley. Kind of an upright runner, cut and go style, some ball control issues, maybe he is a bit thicker, a touch better at the top gear, and has better upside in the passing game than Ridley .... but no, not for a first. Not even close. If it's him or nothing you stand pat with what you have.

All told, you know what Ridley has right now, and I'd rather see more of Vereen before they go on a draft craze. With a roster of WRs of whom only one has ever taken a snap in NE, and a defense that could use talent pretty much at every single roster spot but NT and LBer, spending anything much on a runner is a waste.
