Have to agree with you there.  After Brady missed a whole season with his knee injury, his return was a yawner in the press.  Manning definitely commands some "man crush" with the talking heads.  If anything, it is wishful thinking he will be back to his old ways and stats.

Soups, I'd say that's exactly why its a media frenzy.  Many were speculating that Manning would never play again.

the other thing is that Manning is with a new team, not the same team.

Instead of being the same old drama, its "new" drama.

I actually enjoy his new car commercial with the "audibles". Better than "Cut that meat! cut that meat!". As for the love-fest on TV, better him than Tebow and the Jets roster disaster. At least has the game and credentials to back up the media attention.

Official attendance for today's  training camp practice was 4,372. That topped the previous record of 3,103 that was set Aug. 1, 2010

Read somewhere today that the Pats' camp had almost as many people as the Sox' last home game.

Love him or hate him, Manning is the story.

It makes sense that the league (read: television) desperately wants Manning to return to glory -- or at the very least, near glory -- so that the casual fan can "oooh" and "ahhh" over him and buy lots of product. Personally, I predict less than greatness for the ol' forehead's second act, but whatever happens you can rest assured that the cameras and the microphones aren't going to miss a minute of it . . . ergo: neither shall you and I.
