The Jets......(A thread of laughs!)

Re: The Jets......(A thread of laughs!)

Here's my analysis of the Jets' 2013 draft:

PLAYERS SELECTED: CB Dee Milliner, Alabama (#9), DT Sheldon Richardson, Missouri (#13), QB Geno Smith, West Virginia (#39), OG Brian Winters, Kent State (#72), OT/OG Oday Aboushi, Virginia (#141), OG William Campbell, Michigan (#178), FB Tommy Bohanon, Wake Forest (#215).

    1.) Dee Milliner: May have injury concerns...as there was talk that he has gone under the knife five (5) different times, previously. As most of you realize, much misinformation and outright lies are spread, pre-draft...so it's hard to know what's true and what isn't. If healthy, he appears to be the best CB available in this draft;

2.) Sheldon Richardson: Though several scouting services had Richardson rated as the best DT available, he does not seem to be a fit for what the Jets do on defense. It will be intesting to see how head coach, Doctor Schoals, uses him.

3.) Geno Smith: Vastly overrated. His numbers were inflated in part due to the system he played in, and the fact that he had WRs like Stedman Bailey and Tavon Austin to throw to. Showed his true colors in day one at Radio City Music Hall...when he clearly sulked and made faces like a spoiled child, when he wasn't selected in the first round. Jets' owner Woody Johnson stated before the draft how important it was not to fumble...in obvious reference to the Mark Sanchez butt fumble: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/04/25/woody-johnson-it-comes-down-to-the-qb-he-cant-fumble/ Yet, his team uses the 39th overall pick on Smith, a guy who was a turnover machine in college (32 career fumbles). Now, there are reports of Smith being disrespectul and disinterested in team meetings. Yep...looks like the Jets have found their answer at QB...LOL!!!

4.) Brian Winters: Starting LT at Kent state for four years will be converted to OG in the pros. He's a solid prospect. But, where are the skill players?

5.) The remaining guys are two OG types, and a FB. Can you smell what the Jets are cookin'?

BOTTOM LINE: Football games are won due to good QB play, and dominance in the trenches. The Jets used their later picks to try to shore up their OL...drafted Smith as their new franchise QB...replaced Darrelle Revis with Milliner, and got an athletic DT, whose better suited to play in a 4-3, than a 3-4. In so doing, they set up QB Mark Sanchez for continued failure. He still has nobody to throw to. Drafting Smith at #39 was a huge mistake. The guy has BUST written all over him. Though Richardson can play, he doesn't appear to be a good fit for their defense. Accordingly, the Jets may have been better off taking TE Effert at #13, and selecting a NT later in the draft. Though I like the Jets' idea on building up their "D" and OL, the Smith pick ruined their draft: GRADE: C-

    And here is the latest.....lol

Jets cut 2 after marijuana arrest May 5, 2013

New York Jets defensive end Claude Davis and cornerback Cliff Harris were cut a day after they were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana.

The two players, who were signed to reserve-future contracts in January and never played for the Jets, were arrested Monday night in Morristown, N.J., after an officer noticed the vehicle they were in was filled with smoke. According to a release provided by Morristown Police, the officer smelled "burnt marijuana'' when the driver rolled down his window.

Davis, 23, and Harris, 22, were released after being served a summons, but a third person, Daniel Godfrey, 21, of Morristown, was charged with marijuana possession, intent to distribute and possessing a loaded handgun. Godfrey was detained at Morris County Correctional Facility in default of $50,000 bail.

Rex Ryan today responded to the "Geno Smith is a diva" allegations. The very fact that Ryan felt obliged to respond to such criticisms tells you that there must be some truth to these claims. It's the old "where there's smoke, there's fire, sort of thing.

But hey...Jets fans...no worries. Rex says that he can tell that Smith is a true leader of men by the way Geno spits out those signals when he calls his plays: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/05/10/rex-ryan-geno-smith-is-no-diva-with-the-jets/

Bank robber wears Jets gear during heists

Posted by Mike Florio on May 12, 2013, 6:27 PM EDT RobberGetty Images

A white male wearing a Jets jersey under a brown leather jacket robbed two Manhattan banks and tried to rob three others on Friday.

The crook got nearly $13,000 at one bank and $2,500 at another.  Though surveillance images plainly reveal his face, he remains at large.

The suspect has been linked to an April 12 bank robbery.  That makes him three for six in bank robbery attempts.

The suspect reportedly is 25.  Coincidentally, former Jets quarterback Tim Tebow is 25.  Apart from the fact that likely he has an iron-clad alibi, an accuracy rate of 50 percent is way too high for him.

And, yes, I wrote this blurb for the sole purpose of making that lame joke.

More talk that Sanchez won’t be a Jet when the season starts

Posted by Michael David Smith on May 13, 2013, 7:18 AM EDT Mark+Sanchez+New+York+Jets+v+Tennessee+Titans+B3iE3zB8nf4lGetty Images

Mark Sanchez may be atop the Jets’ quarterback depth chart right now. But he may not be on the Jets’ quarterback depth chart at all in four months.

There’s increasing talk that if rookie Geno Smith looks good this summer, and if veteran David Garrard stays healthy, that the Jets will go into the season with Smith and Garrard as their top two quarterbacks, and go into the season without Sanchez at all.

Peter King writes at SI.com that it wouldn’t be surprising if the Jets traded Sanchez or cut him before Week One, while the New York Post reports thatthe Jets are smitten with Smith and view the starting quarterback job as Smith’s to lose. In fact, the Post‘s Brian Costello believes the only way Sanchez will be a Jet this season is if Smith simply can’t figure out an NFL offense by September and Garrard simply can’t stay healthy at age 35.

The problem, of course, is Sanchez’s contract, which guarantees him $8.75 million whether he’s on the Jets or not. But the Post suggests that the Jets might agree to eat about $6 million of that as part of a trade. No team would trade for Sanchez on his current deal, but some team might trade for Sanchez if the Jets are paying most of his salary.

Jets coach Rex Ryan has said that Sanchez will get the first snap of the first practice with the first-string offense, and that after that, it’s an open competition for the job. But the competition with Smith and Garrard will be a tough one for Sanchez to win. And if he doesn’t win, he may be done in New York.

Garrard calling it quits.  Apparently his knee is acting up.  This means Sanchez or Geno starts week 1.  LMAO.

Meanwhile, the best QB of all of them (Greg McElroy) is being wasted as a potential future QB there as they cater to the overrated flavor of the day.

Disagree on McElroy.  He is terrible.  Noodle arm and zero pocket presence.  The Jets offensive line is not terrible and he took 11 sacks in the one game he started despite only attempting 24 passes.  That is terrible.

Brady had a noodle arm out of college. Sanchez's arm sucks anyway, so all I am saying is, his leading the offense looked pretty good in preseason in 2010 and 2011, then he got hurt.

I'll disagree again.  Sanchez has decent arm strength.  His problem is accuracy. McElroy makes college Brady look like Jeff George. And even the scouts thought Brady had good pocket presence.  McElroy looks like another college QB that can't handle the NFL rush.

He outplayed Sanchez in preseason 2010, IMO.

And the clown-car continues to ride on...as veteran QB David Gerrard has announced that he is quitting the team for health reasons. Gerrard was supposed to challenge Mark Sanchez for the right to be the bridge between now, and the Geno Smith error: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/05/15/report-david-garrard-tells-teammates-hes-leaving-the-jets/
