So, tell us Queenie, are you suggesting that a team with huge cap space should onlu pursue high priced free agents?  Strange.  That seems to conflict with, say every single thing that you have ever posted about cap mgt. When did it all change?  Wait, was it when the "cap hell" Jets suddenly had 40 mil in space?

Gary Myers Darrelle Revis nightmare has to have NY Jets coach Rex Ryan turning green There was lots of talk on Tuesday that Revis would 'love' to play for the Jets again, but it did not get its desired effect: Woody Johnson and GM John Idzik didn’t enter into a bidding war to bring Revis home, even with the hated Patriots the leading contenders to get him. Rex Ryan must watch talented cornerback Darrelle Revis jet off to Patriots.

The Jets never should have traded Darrelle Revis last year, but they were very happy with him tucked away in Tampa, where he played in obscurity for a really bad, dysfunctional team.

But now their ultimate nightmare has become reality: Revis Island is relocating to New England.

He’s one of the best players in Jets history and now he’s joining up with Bill Belichick, whom he called a “jerk” two years ago, and Tom Brady to make a run at ending the Patriots’ 10-year Super Bowl championship drought.

It’s got to make Rex Ryan and Jets fans absolutely nauseous.

Five hours after the Bucs cut him Wednesday, Revis agreed to a one-year, $12 million deal with the Patriots, a $4 million pay cut but with a chance to play in the Super Bowl. There’s no indication the Jets were ever seriously interested in a reunion.

RELATED: SORRY, JETS FANS! REVIS REACHES ONE-YEAR, $12 MILLION DEAL WITH RIVAL PATRIOTS

Philly, San Francisco, Chicago, Cleveland, Denver . . . the Jets needed Revis any place but New England after his one-year layover in Tampa. The Jets just gift-wrapped him to Belichick.

Revis can still say at $12 million he’s the highest-paid cornerback, on a per-year basis, in the NFL. And you know that’s important to him. He can also hit the market as a free agent in 2015. Paying so much is not the Patriots Way, but Belichick desperately needed a quality replacement for Aqib Talib, even if Revis turns out to be a just a one-year hired gun.

Woody Johnson, tired of battling Revis on his contract, was adamant last year that he wanted him gone. Although there was speculation about a Return of Revis Island, the Jets clearly were not motivated to bring him back. There was lots of talk on Tuesday that Revis would “love” to play for the Jets again, but it did not get its desired effect: Johnson and GM John Idzik didn’t enter into a bidding war to bring Revis home, even with the hated Patriots the leading contenders to get him. And paying $12 million for a 28-year-old corner two seasons removed from ACL surgery is not going to be Idzik’s way of doing business.

“Last year, Woody didn’t want any part of Revis,” one source said Wednesday. “He wanted him gone. Out the door.”

Nothing changed. The door never opened. “The reality is, it’s not going to happen,” one source said Wednesday during the process.

RELATED: WHERE IN THE WORLD IS DARRELLE REVIS?

When Revis recently refused a pay cut, the Bucs frantically tried to trade him, but no team wanted to pay him $16 million and Revis refused to take a cut to facilitate a trade. If he was going to take a cut, he wanted to be able to determine his own fate and pick his team.

Jets owner Woody Johnson and Jets general manager John Idzik don't show interest in Darrelle Revis. Robert Sabo/New York Daily News Jets owner Woody Johnson and Jets general manager John Idzik don't show interest in Darrelle Revis.

So now he goes to the Patriots and plays for Belichick. It just doesn’t get any worse for the Jets.

Revis is the latest big name to switch sides in the Border War. Bill Parcells went from the Pats to the Jets. Belichick went from the Pats to the Jets to the Pats. Curtis Martin jumped from the Pats to Jets by signing a poison-pill filled free agent offer sheet. And then, of course, Eric Mangini went from being Belichick’s protégé with the Pats to his nemesis as the Jets head coach, which led to the embarrassing SpyGate episode for Belichick.

Revis has never been a big fan of Belichick, which is now about to change.

Two years ago in the offseason, Revis was asked to play a word association game on television.

"Bill Belichick,” the host on ESPN said.   “Jerk,” Revis said.   “Whoa,” the host said.

    “Jerk,” Revis said again.

Asked to elaborate why he felt that way, Revis said, “Some of the comments he says about the Jets.”

If Revis can help the Patriots win the Super Bowl, Belichick won’t care at all what Revis called him, and if Revis can get a ring with the Patriots, he won’t care about how he felt Belichick disrespected the Jets.

One year ago, I presented a scenario where Revis could end up in New England in 2014 if he played out his contract with the Jets. “It’s not that far-fetched,” an NFL source said at the time. “It would not shock me if he’s in a Patriots uniform next year.”

He took a circuitous route through Tampa to get to Foxborough. Maybe the Jets can name an island after Dee Milliner.

Modal Trigger     With Revis move, Belichick breaks Gang Green nation’s heart again Darrelle Revis (left) is signing up with Bill Belichick (right) and the Patriots. Photo: Bill Kostroun (left) and Getty Images (right) MORE FROM Steve Serby     Steve Serby Darrelle Revis not worth the money he'll surely demand   Santonio's gone, leaving Idzik with cash to arm Jets offense   Michael Vick would be more distraction than solution for Jets   Gerald Ford III is one NFL hopeful to root for   Athletes and guns: When will they learn?

The last thing the Jets wanted is the nightmare scenario that unfolded swiftly Wednesday night, the Great White Shark lurking off the free-agent waters in New England, the bloodthirsty Bill Belichick himself, his unblinking, remorseless eyes set on sinking his jaws into Darrelle Revis.

    A reported one-year, $12 million deal.

    Darrelle Revis is a Patriot.

    One year, $12 million.

Only if Revis had been willing to play ball that way before the Jets were forced to trade him to Tampa Bay a year ago.

It was Belichick himself who walked away from working for owner Woody Johnson 14 years ago, and his forever hatred of all things Jets wasn’t even the biggest reason why he stalked Revis now, only hours after Revis had been released by the Buccaneers.

The biggest reason: with Aqib Talib now in Denver, Belichick needed a shutdown corner more desperately than Revis burned to retain his $16 million-a-year paycheck.

As wise as Johnson and general manager John Idzik were not to pay Revis $16 million a year ago, as wise as they were to send him out of the conference a year ago, the best-laid plans backfire now that the Great White was successful in landing Revis.

It is every bit the equivalent of Curtis Martin bolting the Patriots for the Bill Parcells Jets.

This only could happen to the Jets.

Put it this way: never mind the potential presence of Michael Vick, having to play Revis twice a year won’t exactly help Geno Smith make a case for himself, will it? Even with his new receiver Eric Decker in the fold.

Another year removed from left knee surgery, Revis will have plenty of incentive to reclaim his “Best Cornerback in Football” throne from Richard Sherman, which means he will again be the kind of transcendent player who can singlehandedly stunt a young quarterback’s growth if he dares venture onto Revis Island.

Revis will remind Belichick of Ty Law, his former Super Bowl shutdown corner, and not solely because they both hail from Aliquippa, Pa. Law, like Revis, was a complete player with an indomitable will to win.

More likely than not, past history tells us Revis will have a better chance to win with Belichick and Tom Brady than he would have had with coach Rex Ryan and Geno Smith, Michael Vick or whomever.

Of course, this is the NFL, so you never know for sure, but as long as Brady doesn’t turn old overnight, the Jets, a season removed from rebuilding, will have more work to do to further close the gap.

Brady, suddenly 37 in August, sees the window closing on him, and doesn’t Belichick know it. John Elway means business (Talib, DeMarcus Ware, T.J. Ward), and without Revis, Belichick would have been in dire straits against Peyton Manning.

Revis fits the Belichick profile even better than Randy Moss or Corey Dillon did. He only turn 29 in July, and he has been tough, smart and competitive from the second he stepped into the league.

If Revis truly loved Ryan and loved New York, he should have called Johnson personally to clear the air with the Jets owner and let bygones be bygones and offer the team a homecoming discount, because the Jets weren’t inclined to pay him $16 million a year ago, and they weren’t now. No one was.

Never mind Ryan, his old teammates, the few who are left, would have welcomed him back with open arms. Revis would have filled the leadership vacuum that exists in the locker room. Ryan likely would have named him captain.

Of course the Revis camp made it known that it had inquired about any possible Jets interest, after professing Revis’ boundless love for Ryan, an obligatory leverage ploy undoubtedly designed to attempt to get Belichick to blink and ante up. Belichick always has opted for bargains, and with Talib commanding a tad less than $10 million per, Revis would have been no bargain if he insisted on playing hardball.

Even at this price, Revis is no bargain, and the Jets had too many holes to allocate $12 million to any one player, even this one, knowing that he would be back a year from now armed with a humongous wheelbarrow demanding that it be filled to the brim. Been there, done that. You can’t build a team that way.

As for Revis, he gets to shop himself again next season, an NFL record, and proved the lure of the elusive Super Bowl ring trumped his obsession with the almighty dollar.

Belichick, as of Wednesday night, had in the neighborhood of $18 million in cap space after cutting defensive tackle Isaac Sopoaga. It meant he was maneuvering. It meant he was restless. It has been a decade since he won his last Super Bowl. The Great White is hungry, and he is desperate.

Darrelle Revis is a New England Patriot.

Read it and weep, Jets Nation.

Read it and weep Jets Troll...read it and weep......

Don't answer - it was rhetorical.  Good thing all pats fans aren't idiots.

Getting Revis: Revis was the pride and joy of the Jets — and their fans — in his six years there. At one point, there was talk that he would be a Jet for life. But that marriage fell apart when they dealt him to Tampa Bay last year. And surely, in sending him to Tampa, the Jets must have wanted to keep him as far away from the AFC East (and especially New England) as possible. But now he’s back, and wearing the colors of the Jets’ hated rivals. It will be a bitter pill for Jets fans — who’ve already watched the Patriots march to five straight division crowns — to watch him bolster the résumé of Tom Brady and Bill Belichick next season.

BB wanted Revis for a number of reasons.

First, Revis was in on every defensive innovation that Rex Ryan has ever produced, and Revis can tell BB.

Second, Revis may have feelings about being dumped in Tampa Bay by the Jets' front office.  He's going to be on fire for those two Jets games.

On paper, the Jets badly need a top cornerback: currently the team’s three best corners are Dee Milliner, Kyle Wilson and Darrin Walls. Though Milliner showed some progress at the end of last year, his rookie season was very disappointing as a whole. Rodgers-Cromartie ranked as the fifth-best cornerback in the league last season. The Jets should have plenty of money to spend even after signing Eric Decker and Breno Giacomini.

Rodgers-Cromartie had visited the Jets on Saturday and was reportedly drawing interest from the Cleveland Browns -- both of whom have significantly more cap room than the Giants. DRC has 19 interceptions n a six-year career that has also taken him to Arizona and Philadelphia.

          Tough luck, Goblin fans...LOL!!!
