The News Header of the Day - Manning in - Sanchez out

The Jets headlines can get any better ??

Even with offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer out (even though coach Rex Ryan said he’d be back unless he becomes a head coach), some Jets players want to see more changes on offense.

As Manish Mehta of the New York Daily Newsexplains it, “several key Jets players and members of the organization” have concerns regarding the ability of quarterback Mark Sanchez to do the job.

Some even want the team to dump Sanchez and replace him with Peyton Manning.

unnamed sources - s. holmes ?? plaxico ?? calvin pace

the jets will continue to self implode

ROFL, and the meltdown continues. The Jets players don't realize that they have so much money sunk into Sanchez that it would handcuff them in dead money to dump him and I doubt anyone will trade for him. Then the cost of getting Manning.... ROFL yeah, keep on bashing your QB and asking for Manning because it's not going to happen and that will make for a very interesting locker room. Besides don't they have a playoff game to worry about this weekend, you know on their way to their 3rd SB? Oh, wait never mind

I don't know if there is any validity to his being traded to NYJ and i don't think he would want that job considering the only way he can beat a BB coached Patriots team is with help from the refs so with that said losing twice a year to the same team would only hurt Peyton, but I do think he will be moved before his 28 million dollar bonus kicks in!!!

I caught part of Mike an mike this morning on way to work. GREENIE the FAN of jets was just venting and you could hear it in the guys voice he was so upset with jets that if fat ryan came on the set he would be slapped by greenie. Jets are total opposite of Patriots; all talk and no class. Its a must listen for making us patriots fans feel better about ourselves until Saturday.

Peyton Manning even if healthy will never agree to play for a team with an outdoor stadium in a cold weather region. He will want a team that has a majority thier of games played indoors or outdoors in a warm weather region. Posted by jri37
Manning and others with anye braincells will stay away from the laughing stock of an organization

Typical jets' dysfunction; It's either stick with the failed overpriced #5 pick or take on the overpriced 36 year old with a neck issue who has played in domes his whole career. And they wonder why they haven't won a SB going on a half a century.

Manning wont go to the Jets. Not gonna happen and its just funny that Sanchez's own teammates would go out and say what they have said when its not even in the cards for Manning or at least not yet. If Manning was on the block and its was official then fine throw your QB under the bus but they just bashed their own guy and in the end they wont get anyone else.

What Veteran QB's not named Peyton Manning could go to NY next year in FA and take the job?

Re: The News Header of the Day - Manning in - Sanchez out

If Manning is healthy enough to play and he truly wants to move on to another team to have a chance at winning it all again before he retires, I'd say the Jets may not be the best place for him. They have the defense, true, but there are so many variables that Manning won't be accustomed to if he goes to the Jets.

1--Playing outdoors in the northeast vs. playing indoors his entire career

2--Having his head coach being the center of attention instead of the quiet, laid back type he's used to

3--Having (right now) his only "great" receiver being a total head case who's overpaid and who's another arrest waiting to happen (Burris is OLD, too, so who will be a legit #2 WR after Holmes?)

4--The Jets have to have salary cap issues if they get Manning, don't they? I'm sure they can work something out to fit him in, but what's left over for them to help improve their depth, etc.?

I heard some talking head on Sunday say that Arizona could be a possible landing place for Manning. That makes more sense. They came on strong late in the season, have a decent defense now (not great, but better than it was), play indoors, in a warm weather division, and have one of the best WRs in the game on their roster.

Peyton will go to SF, at this point in his career he knows he needs a good OL, good running game and a great defense to back him up. If Alex Smith can go 13-3 with that team, Peyton Manning is an easy 15-1.

The Jets have no running game, a mediocre OL and a mediocre defense. None of which Peyton will be looking to, he's also quite terrible in the snow. He'll love to go to the mild SF weather.

Re: The News Header of the Day - Manning in - Sanchez out

The Colts can't trade Manning anywhere. There is no trading of players until the 2012 league year begins in April. The 2012 league year begins AFTER his bonus of $28 million is due to be paid, which is in late March.

They can only release him to avoid paying him the $28 million, or renegotiate the bonus payment. But why would Manning agree to forego that money and give the Colts control over where he plays next year?  In other words, he has all the leverage now, why would he give that up?

And if they pay him the bonus in March as it is due and THEN trade him after the league year commences, their cap hit for next season is $39 million! So that's not an option.

It's fun to speculate I guess, but reality is Manning will either be a Colt next year or a free agent and likely to sign somewhere warm or with a dome, if he can even play.
