    His scouting report and stats:
        Defense
        Defense
Season Team   TOT SOL AST TFL SK FF INT BK TD
        143 62 81 38½ 16½ 4 1 0 1
    2007 Central Arkansas   16 6 10 4 1 0 1 0 0
    2008 Central Arkansas   18 5 13 1 0 0 0
    2009 Central Arkansas   47 25 22 11 0 0 0 0
    2010 Central Arkansas   62 26 36 19 3 0 0 1

Positives: Good athlete... Very good speed... Explosive... Solid pass rusher... Good initial burst... Good bend on the corner... Lanky... Long arms... Active hands... Solid hand technique... Will affect passing lanes when he cannot reach the quarterback... Good balance and body control... Makes plays in the backfield... Good closing speed... Solid lateral mobility... Makes plays down the line of scrimmage... Locates the ball quickly... Tackles well... Plays low... Solid drops in coverage... Loose hips... Redirects and recovers well when he out-runs the play... Team leader... Aggressive... Plays smart... Durable, has not missed a game in two seasons... In the same mold as former Central Arkansas defensive ends Jacob Ford (Titans) and Larry Hart (Jaguars).

Negatives: Not real strong... Can be engulfed by larger blockers... Can be pushed around... Lacks the power to split double teams... Does not get off blocks especially quick... Loses ground at the point of attack... Needs a clear path to the quarterback to be successful... Tends to run around blocks, struggles to face them head on... Can be run at... Needs to improve maintaining containment... Can be slow to diagnose and read plays, not the most instinctive player... Has played in a down position and will need to adjust to standing upright... Is strictly a 3-4 OLB prospect at this point, would need to add considerable muscle mass to get looks as a defensive end... Any additional bulk might impact his speed... Lack of competition playing at the FCS level.

There's some film of him on the internet. Looks like he's got a motor, but it's small school football he's playing.  This again makes me think BB is trying to find a diamond in the rough in a draft that he must think lacks talent.

It will be a nice story if the kid works out.  Apparently the Packers and Bucs were interested in him too.

Just saw the highilight reel on this guy and he plays light's out.   BUt it will be insane to expect great things from a 6th rd pick.  I hope I'm wrong.

Indeed.  The Brady pick is the best 6th rd pick in the history of the NFL.  The odds of hitting another home run in the 6th requires some divine intervention though.  Like I said, I hope I'm wrong.

sounds like he could be a gary guyton type on the outside...fast guy (4.7) but not strong enough yet (only 17 reps). on any other team he'd be a massive long shot but he will have a very good chance to make this team as currently constructed based on very little competition.

I like this pick.  It looks like his biggest weakness is (no pun intented) his strength.  That is probably the easiest thing to improve.  Get him in the weight room with an NFL strength and conditioning coach and he should bulk up a bit.  Explosive and long, those are things you can't teach or correct.  So it looks like he could be a promising development prospect with high upside.

In the Pat's defense this guy does not have to been the greatest thing since sliced bread, he just has to be steady and not make mistakes.  If for the first year he is a 3rd down pass rusher and gives us 6-10 plus a few hurries then that would be great  . .  . remember it took "54" a few years to develop into a starter!  I still look for them to pick up a FA at OLB and WR (if they are not sold on Tate).
